So in getting ready it put my pioneer radio in my car, 96 gst. I went to a stereo shop to pick up the harness and he asks me if I have the infinity system. I tell him I do so he hands me this. How the hell do I hook this up? Did he give me the wrong harness?

Thanks

if you are still utilizing your factory amplifier then that is the correct harness. the rca cables plug into your aftermarket radios rcas. then the opposite end (with the single multi-pin plug) plugs into the factory plug going to the factory amp (you will be unplugging it when you take your factory radio out). The other black plug you have gets wired to your aftermarket radio's wires, then plugged into the factory radio plug just color match the wires. It's pretty straight forward and you can't mess it up. your green, white, purple and gray wires on your aftermarket radio's plug (speaker wires that would normally get wired to the factory speaker wires) do not get used, because your sound is coming out of the rcas, not those wires

Also, the blue with white stripe on your rcas plug. gets wires to the blue with white stripe on your after market radio. it's your remote turn on wire to turn the factory amp on when powered up. some say it's not needed but i haven't tested it. might as well just wire it up anyway :thumb:

OH! That is a fantastic find! it is a VERY clean way to install your head unit, and USING the stock amplifier still... the harness, will plug into the factory one, but cutting all but the 12v constant, 12v acc, illum, and ground (typically the only ones required for a unit to power up.) wite this pigtail to the harness to plug into the pioneer deck.

The rca to serial converter is a trick way to use the pioneer's capability to output to rca, and plugs directly to the signal feed for the factory infinity amplifier. Should sound pretty decent, if the speakers are in good shape.

beat me to it while i was typing!

Ok, I just looked at the back of the pioneer that is going in. It only has two sets of rca jacks, one labeled f and the other sw. I'm thinking the sw stands for subwoofer? Do I plug the rears there or is this radio to old for this set up?

uh oh. cheezzzyy head unit ya got there. yes sw mean subwoofer. that won't be used. go back to the store and buy 2 Y splitter rcas. they will each have two female ends and one male end. that will give you a total of four outputs from the pioneer to use for that wiring harness the shop gave you.

OR

option two is to plug in the front rcas as normal. and take the purple (rear right) and green (rear left) wires and extend them to the input wires going INTO the factory amp that go to your rear speakers (to get rear audio)

If you go the first option, you will have audio in the rear no problem BUT it will be the same sound that is coming from the front. AS IN you won't have the rear sound that you're supposed to be hearing as it was meant from the recording studio. catch my drift?

If it only has 2 then use the SW set can be for both Rear and Sub.

correct me if im wrong but i'm almost positive this is incorrect. as the SW pair only outputs low hertz that are meant for only a woofer, and will cause damage to any speaker that is meant to play anything above, oh lets say, 500hz

It may be cheesy to you but it does everything I need it to, plays music. If I want to watch movies or play video games I'll use my epic or better yet my ps3 from the comfort of my couch:p I have enough distractions as it is already, especially in the warmer months down here with all the little southern cutties walking around in tank tops and cut offs :D
