Stereo Confusion.

I installed a Panasonic CD Player on the gsx about three years ago. I've noticed that the tweeters on the dash no longer work when the factory unit is not in place. The rest of the speakers are fine, but the front speakers are midrange only and the tweeters are there in to compliment them with the highs. It sounds a little goofy with just mids coming out up front. It feels like the rear speakers are drowning out the others. How do I hook them up so they play tunes? Thanks for the help.

-My car came factory with the infinity sound system w/ a factory amp below the passenger seat. I believe all 2g turbo models did.

Where the amp was installed, under the passenger seat, you will have to splice into the front tweet speakers there. Last month I installed a new cd/mp3 player in my wifes' 97GST. The front dash speakers are the only ones that are not wired behind the stock stereo but only at the infinity amp. Problem with them now is there is no sound seperator in the line anymore and when bass comes along in a song the speakers get distorted real bad. I need to purchase some inline sound seperators for highs only.

95 and 96's have a second black plug nuder the tweeters.

rig up a patch cord with a couple of short wires, a couple of spades and a couple of connectors to connect the tweeters to that plug instead.

Problem solved.


97+ do require going to the amp but 95-96 don't

alright, i tried to find that little black plug underneath the tweeters and I could not locate it. Can anyone shine some light on this? thanks!

then you have to patch around the amp (colors are in the tech article i wrote).

or get the adapter previously mentioned.
