starting/timing issues

i recently did wires and plugs, and now my car wont stay running, my buddy and I got it started and it was kinda hesitant and died out when I stopped giving it gas after a few high revs it made a couple loud pops. he told me it was timing. i was told the car has a 6 bolt swap.
Why was it fine before i changed the plugs and wires?
or is it actually the timing?

well from my experience with timing it can jump out at any time and it just could of been right after you changed the plugs and wires.

My old eclipse gs got really low on gas and it felt like it was dying and stalling out. i just thought it was about to run out of gas but i made it home went to the gas station in the morning and put about 3 gallons of gas in it. Tried to start the car and it would not start just would try to start and mine would backfire and die. Found out that it jumped time a little to much to start got lucky though that i didn't bend a valves,but hopefully its not that because it can be a pain.

um, before pulling it apart since you did plugs and wires, are you sure they are in correct firing order?( the plug wires)

my guess would be firing order as well, pretty easy to get mixed up

the firing order on the coil packs are 1 & 4 then 2&3

the first wire closet to the passenger side should go to the closest coil pack and first whole. the second on the coil pack would go to the 4 th cylinder and so on. it will not hurt anything to play with the wires and try to figure it out before you go ripping the motor apart.

If im not mistaken 1g and 2 g coils are set up different, IE firing order double check what coil you and and you are prob golden.

I did each wire individually so I think its in the right order. I'll check again this weekend
