Starter Problem

I just finished the clutch job and took the car out today. Everything was going good until I turned the car off and it didnt start. I managed to pop start it and drive it home. Now It won't start. It strarted once while I had it home but made a wierd grinding noise and then when I took the key out of the car it stayed running! Only for like 15 seconds then died out. What could this be?

grinding noise might be from the starter dragging on the flywheel when it spins to try and start. A sign it could be going bad. Also I'd double check and make sure it is securely/fully bolted in.

also when the car is cold, wiggle your hand back where the starter is , and make sure the little plastic clip that goes on metal connector is still connected fully. Happened after I finished a tranny job in my car. I pulled the connector off wiggling the starter into place and the car wouldnt start.

I would say check or battery terminals just because it could be the obvious. But this sounds like when my starter went out. Also you can pull the starter out and take it to auto zone or kragen and most places have a starter tester there.

Definately sounds like a starter, it sounds like the drive gear isnt returning and pulling away from the flywheel
