hi guys my name is carlos and i own a 91 talon awd. (the guy who sold me the car put a fwd tranny on it #kf5m3325pzs and under that hv2785) i just got the car and the seller told me the starter was bad thats y he push starts the car. so when i took the old starter out i saw the starter plate was cut because the awd one was not the same as the fwd one so i put a new fwd starter plate and starter also a new turbo cluch i put it all togater. i hit the key and the starter just spun lick if the flywheel wasent there i have tried 6 starters and nothing like if the flywhell is to far from the starter.

are all the fly wheels the same turbo non turbo awd or fwd or the year?

i dont know what to do need help

if i can get it fixed i think am going to sell the car (i really dont want to the car has good paint and like show room new interior

Unless something with the flywheel is incorrectly sized, the ONLY thing I can think of causing the problem is the starter not engaging.

It spins, but does the gear get pushed up when the starter is activated? With that many different starters, i'm not going to say the solonoid is bad, but maybe it's being wired up wrong?

I suggest taking the starter loose, but leaving it connected, electrically.
Lay it somewhere secure, and have somone "start" the car. Watch the starter, and make sure that the starter gear is being pushed up by the solonoid.

If it IS working correctly, there's an issue with it not 'reaching' the flywheel. For that, I am not sure, as I'm a FWD guy.. I don't lnow much about AWD.

I just installed a TRE awd/fwd race tranny on my 92 GS-T. Here's what I know. The fwd and awd tranny bell housings are different sizes (the awd's is a bit smaller). The awd and fwd flywheels are also different. Again, b/c the awd tranny's bell housing is smaller, so is the flywheel. The clutches for each car are the same (pp and disc). IF the starter is working correctly as VerbalKint mentioned then the only thing I can think of is if the flywheel on the car is for an awd still and you're running the fwd tranny and the starter is not "reaching" the flywheel teeth. Do you know what flywheel is on the car? The starters for each car are the same also.

Sounds like he left the AWD flywheel on the car. Easy fix, pick up a FWD flywheel off the trader for cheap.

Just curious though, have you taken the driveshaft off the bottom of the car and gotten it set up to drive around FWD or are you looking for and AWD tranny?

I would say get the right tranny and a t-case and fix the problem that way.

where can i get a stock fwd fly wheel for cheep. Also the cars drivetrain is guted theres no drive shaft no rear diff and no rear cv joints. How havy do u think my car is now?

Awd flywheels are definitely a different size than FWD. If they are mismatched, that is your problem. If you still have the issue with the correct Flywheel/Starter/Starter plate combo, then take a look at the tranny bolts and make sure none of them are backing out.
