I have a 99' Eclipse GS OZ. A few days ago I installed a Star Stage II Turbo kit. Most everything went together fine and its been running great until today when I hooked up a wideband to it and found that under boost it leans out. I tried to add fuel to it with an SAFC II, but did not affect it. I am only trying to run 9 lbs. of boost with stock injectors, which should be fine. Can anybody help me to figure out what is wrong? Thanks.

what FPR do you have

try to raise your static pressure if you have a 1:1 FPR

don''t go to rich with your safc or you might go BOOM
because
the safc will advance timming!!!
no one can tell you when or how much it will advance but it will so be careful
only make little adjustment's with your safc

i think he has the vortech 12:1 since its a star kit. the s-afc doesnt advance timing when you richen it up, only when you lean it out. but you cant really richen it up with a s-afc on our cars because of the same reason we have to have a voltage clamp or a missing link.'

my money would be on your fmu hooked up wrong.

with only running 9 lbs is an AFC even necessary

wouldnt it be easier to take the afc completely out and just use a FCD or missing link on the MAP until he wants to go bigger injectors etc

fcd and missing link are completely different from the s-afc. its still nice to have for fine tuning.

yes i realize that they are different

i have the missing link on mine

but he is running 9psi with stock injectors

the stock ecu is more than capable of running those injectors without leaning out with the
rising rate fmu that came with his kit to a certain point
but 9psi is getting close to maxing out those injectors

if he wants to keep the afc he should at least get some bigger injectors even 270's would show improvement

for example i put in 270's in mine with NO afc and at 7 psi i was running way rich at wot
therefore I need an AFC to lean it out

according to Brad at hahn you cannot use an afc to richen up our cars only lean out
so in this guys case he doesnt need and afc because it is too lean already

getting too close imo. he should for sure get bigger injectors.

right because you are running same fuel pressure extremely high fuel pressure that you were on the stockers. the point of getting bigger ones is so you can run lower fuel pressure, so he would need to recalibrate his fmu.

i wonder who else said that...???(look at the 3rd post :shhh: ) :p
