Okay so heres my question, I am new to the DSM scene and want to get form and function. I really like the stretched tire look and the low offset look. Whats the best way to get this look for not too expensive?

If you want to go through tires, your car to ride like shit, and look retarded go for it.

I think the stance look is dumb.

Stretched tires mean no traction and all of that camber will eat tires, slammed to the ground your car will ride like a covered wagon and handle like crap.

thanks for your opinion but i dont want this negative stuff, im not looking for opinions im looking for info

no its not an invasion LOL I just like that look, but love my dsm so I want best of both worlds, im not looking to go to the extreme, just a modest look

Camber isnt what kills tires, its toe that kills them. 20,000 to 25,000 miles is about what I expect from 2 degrees of camber on softer performance street tires. traction is decreased quite a bit though, especially if your pushing a good amount of power. and if you have power, dont stretch the tires.

check around in the suspension sub forum, or hit up stancenation.com. There are a few 2g guys over there! Best of luck!

appreciate it, i have been on stanced nation many times which is really what gave me my ideas, and thank you, people always think its camber that messes up the tires and its not

Camber CAN eat tires, if its aggressive enough, the inside of the tires will make more contact than the rest of the tire for the whole life of the tire.. It will wear the inside more than the outside.

Camber and tow both affect the life of the tire. Aswell as caster

17x9.5 or 18.x9.5 Offset between +25 +35, Tires 235/40 to 255/40 for the 17s or 235/35 to 255/35 for the 18s. You would need to roll and slightly pull your fenders, if not you are never ever gonna get an "Stanced" look. Max camber i recommended is -2.3.
If i wanted a Hellaflush stance (not that i ever do it) 18x9.5 +27 235/30R18 Coilovers and -2.1 on front and -1.9 rear "still safe", but ts your choice.

I'll keep my opinion to myself....

Do you want to have a "stance" with meaty tires or stretched tires? Way to do it cheap i wouldn't know, i don't buy cheap wheels so you would have to go look for yourself on the measurements i just gave you.

For discussions like this, read up on stancenation forums. But in my opinion, if you're looking for form AND function, steer away from camber. My experiences with it are that it does cause uneven tire wear. A mildly stretched tire won't be too harmful. I have 215/40s on a 17x7 and I wouldn't stretch any further than that. On a DSM, I'd probably look for 18x9s with 245/40 tires and the lower offset, the better. Also, find someone local who can roll/pull fenders. That'll help loads.

When you start messing with serious camber and crazy fitment, driving fast and hitting the tiniest bump could destroy a fender. It's not worth it unless you plan on being "low'n'slow"

215 tires are not stretched for a 7 inch wide wheel. Whatchu talkin about Willis?

The recommended minimum width for an 8 inch wide wheel is 215....so how can 215 be stretched on a 7 inch wheel?

I was told 215/40 was recommended for a 7" wide wheel when I bought them and then the tire place I took them to to get them mounted wouldn't do it because the tire wasn't wide enough. I had to go elsewhere.

I don't know who to shake my head at more...the idiot who told you that, or you for believing it when the resources to find out what the maximum and minimum width for a specific size wheel can be found online easily.

Oh, and factory 2GB GSX wheels are 17 x 7, and came with 215s from factory.

I bought them as a package from DTD but at the time they didn't do free mounting. If I wasn't buying a package I would've done more research. It doesn't matter now anyway, after googling a little you're right- 195s are what people usually consider "stretched" on a 7" rim although some people put them on 8" wide ones.

i see many trips to the tire / alignment shop in your future. if your looking for a better look, dsm's look good lowered. and you can lower without eating tires, id go with that.

Wow, im surprised that this guy hasn't been flammed like crazy for this. Go but a honda if you wana be like the "cool kids".

Cut dude a break. If thats what he likes then go for it. Not everyone can afford to build these p.o.s half ass dsm's I see all over the streets and some on this board. Some people on here need to look at there own cars and shake there head before they talk down someone else's idea!!

Just get some coilovers and some slightly more aggressive wheels if that's the look you're going for.

At least, that's what I would do. I wouldn't necessarily stance it, per say.
