St.Albert,
I have had a problem with my car stalling when i am decelerating and engage my clutch say from 2nd gear to slow down.
It happens occasionally but the idle while drop to the 0 and sorta bounce and usually picks up but now has stalled a few times on me.
I have replaced the cam sensor, checked the coil pack is good have no ecu problems and was wondering if maybe the crank sensor was involed in this simulation?

Any help is appreciated

have no ecu problems

How do you know you don't have any ECU problems? Just because you don't have any CELs doesn't mean your ECU isn't heading south. '95 ECUs are known to fail, causing the car to buck occasionally, followed by increased stalling, and ultimately preventing the car from being started at all. I'm not sure exactly why they fail, but I've been hearing more and more stories of '95 ECUs dying recently - maybe they only had an eleven year lifespan.

You can get a remanufactured one from Satan for around $255.

The crankshaft position sensor probably wouldn't give you the symptoms you described. In most cases, when the CKPS goes, the car won't even start. A failing cam angle sensor may cause the car to stall now and then (if the magnet on the end of the camshaft is damaged or loose), but a totally busted CMPS will also prevent the car from starting.

My money is on the ECU, though.

I've got the same problems with my ECU, and I know Josh went through all this too (we both have '95s). I want to say Xavier replaced his ECU too, but I could be mistaken...

hokay so if your positive its my ecu giving me the problems then how do you think i should fix it. What is satan first off? and i can problly get a used ecu from a wreckers but with my lucky it would be worse if not the same. So is their a way i can check or just send it in to get it fixed.

Satan=Dealership (mitsubishi,dodge,chrysler ect.)

If you replace it buy a used one or remanufactured one, because it's very likely they fixed whatever was causing pre-mature failure to them during the remanufacturing process as they did with the crank sensors as well.

Is there any way to test the ecu befor i go out and buy and remanufactored one from the dealership? have all testing units such as obd 2 scan tool and multi meters.

Find someone local with a 95 and swap ECUs for a bit. If the problem persists, it's not the ECU (or a rather strange coincidence).

GREEEAATTT..... More good news every day...

I would try what DRIGGS suggested, so if it actually isn't the ECU, you can save yourself some money and time going to hell ( :sneaky: )...

Terry instructed me to check voltage sent to the Cam sensor. When the ECU goes bad it tends to stop sending voltage to the cam and crank sensor.

Get your hands on a voltmeter and unplug the Cam sensor. Put the negative lead into the middle hole of the plug, then put the positive lead in one side and see what voltage you get, then move it to the other side and see what voltage. You should get a 5v signal and 9v signal. If not, it's the ECU.

EDIT: You may still be getting those signals, I forgot yours is still running.

well this is a piss off i tryed to see if there was a recall done on the ecu's and got no help from the dumbass service advisor. What do i do to check the ecu. i am driving the vechile daily and it happens almost everytime i drive but only stalls occasionally. i replaced the cam sensor a while ago and have no reason to blame the ecu besides the fact that u guys say they go bad, i need some proof to replace it.

Let me help you. No. There was no recall.

To check the ECU, as stated before put a known working unit in and see if the problems persist. It doesn't matter that you replaced the cam sensor. First I want to know why you replaced it. Second, if the ECU is bad it won't matter whether the sensor is working properly or not, as the ECU will not send the correct signals to it. You have plenty of reason to blame the ECU, a wiseman and mod are saying they're known to go bad. I myself have experienced it. I'm not saying yours has, but I've got a pretty good feeling. Do your best to find someone with a 95 located near you to do a quick swap.

Hokay so i replaced the cam sensor a while ago when i did my head job and the magnets were not responding when it was cranked replaced the sensor and started. But as for the ecu i have faith that your problly right on the ecu being the fault but i don't have a buddie with the same car, so i most likely have to get a used one or buy remanufactored. I did some checks yesterday and my sensors were all good on there 5 volt refrence and signal wire. But noticed the ecu conector was looking rough the guy who installed my safc2 did a kinda hack job not with the wiring but the cap, on the back that a 10mm bolt goes through was all mangled and barly fits the wires added also a pruple wire was not connected in the harness i think it might be a knock sensor wire cause knock sensor dosen't work on the safc.

I will search franticly for a ecu to test swap it has to be a 95 or is there a bit of leway for say a 95 -99 for the talon/eclipse

When my ECU failed all I could find was a neon ECU which I was told wouldn't work. I got it for 100, and it works. Only problem is it throws 2 codes, since it's looking for something that isn't there, that is there on the neon. For a small fee I could ship you the ECU and let you try it out, as I'm getting a true re-manufactured one here in a bit.

LOL dam neons ummmm thanks for the help but i think i might have got my hands on a talon ecu but its from a 96 should it matter the year difference?
But if i can't use that or am having problems i will let u know and i will send u a case of beer :) for the ecu for a week or so w/e happens. U still don't have a good ecu, still experianceing the sputtering and bogging/ bucking.

So went to the dealership to see if they had a test ecu that i could use or the availibilty of the ecu and wow 95 on backorder then they want $105 just to use there db2 scanner for the ecu test, also $360 for a new ecu. Screw that.........

so i drive my car daily so i think i will try to find a used one from a wreckers and sender in to get remanufactored sounds like the best solution. How is the new ecu workin did it help?
