Just purchased a one owner 1992 Plymouth Laser in excellent condition with 2.0, fuel injected with overhead cam, automatic transmission. It just turned over 150,000. Everything checked out fine on it except for stuttering / stalling problem that a normal tune up should fix. Took it back to mechanic for tune up and he is stumped. He has set the timing, the idle step switch and thoroughly checked over the computer. He has replaced the spark plugs, oxygen sensor, throttle position regulator and fuel pressure regulator. All computer codes are to spec.. The car idles okay when cold with just a slight stutter / lope. After it is warmed up it will idle very rough when stopped and stutter and try to stall when the accelerator is stepped on, like it is flooding out. When cruising down the road and accelerated slowly it is fine until you let up on the gas, then will stutter. If accelerated quickly it really stutters. There is almost always a smell of gas when it acts like it is flooded. After reading previous posts, though it might be the ISC but mechanic says ISC looks fine. Help please!!
