after completing the "stage 1" modifications, can it really be expected to be producing ~300 hp? It just seems like alot, for honestly minimal work. Basically stage 1 consists of freeing up the intake and exhaust. If that can net around 100hp, the DSM's have an unacceptably restrictive intake/exhaust.

You might have missed it, but there are also fuel mods, a turbo upgrade, and drivetrain upgrades also included in Stage 1. If that turbo upgrade is even as "small" as an Evo3 16g, then 275-300 should be achievable, provided all the other supporting mods are present.

I know the turbo upgrade was there, but as the list says its not going past 16 PSI. I don't know. It just seemed like alot of power for 16 psi, but I guess I am still getting used to the whole turbo thing.

Don't think in terms of psi. How much the turbo's CFM, and efficiency is what matters when it comes to psi. What is going to push more air? a Big GT30R At 16psi or your stock little 14b at 16psi.

And don't forget the importance of a good tune. You can have all the performance parts in the world and your car will run like crap and be slow if you don't have it tuned right.

My car is pretty much at the point where it is all bolt on mods, check my profile. And I don't have the best tune. I think I need to put a new knock sensor in because I get knock when I'm running rich enough not to. But according to DSM link my car is putting down ~270 on 91 octane.

So I figure that if I sort out what is up with my knock sensor and get a preffesional quality tune I will be right up around 300 hp with a completely stock engine.

DSM's are limited by the turbo mostly. Hit the compressor choke limit and thats all the motor is gonna flow, or if the turbine section is restrictive maybe not even that much.

Slap a 16g on with an airfilter, 1g cbv, boost controller, some exhaust port work, catback/testpipe and a fuel pump rewire and you should be able to touch 300 h.p. on a cool day. On 16 psi I wouldn't have an idea, theoretically its possible but not likely with limited set of mods, more like 21 psi.

I hit the 300 whp and 300ft lbs of tourque with the 3052 at 16psi so it is possible with the right mods and a good tune. If you look at my dyno sheet now and the tune you'll see the that the afr is extremley smooth almost to the point of where you could lay a ruler on my fuel line but it took about 2.5 days worth of tuning to get it that ironed out. Like the above posters said its all about proper mods and a good tune.

Fun, I guess its going to be easier to hit my goal than I thought. As far as tuning goes how dificult will it be without a dyno? There isnt a dyno anywhere around me. I have no clue how to tune, so Im hoping that if I get DSM link or ECU plus or something Ill be able to figure it out enough. Im pretty good at figuring that kinda stuff out.

Read enough and you catch on. In that respect, I'd recommend DSMLink for the user support and the forum. I don't plan on ever dyno tuning my car because I have everything I need for a decent tune.

Question: where can one find a list of stage 1 mods? I've done a forum search to no avail...My car already has the AEM 550cc injectors and a 3 incatback magnacore....I know I still need the exhaust intake and a cold air intake, but would be nice to have a list of the rest....
