just as the topic says. I have access to a fwd 1g shell I was thinking about putting an srt4 motor into it but everyone says it wont fit.. well what if i use a buschur rwd conversion and put the block sideways? and or just make custom mounts..

Why would you want to do that when a 4g will bolt in? I'm sure you could make it fit. You can make anything fit if you try hard enough (spend enough).
For the cost of fitting a stock SRT motor, you could builkd a rowdy 4g motor.

Well first I already have a 2.3 stroker motor i'm perfectly fine with it but id like to do somthing abstract. as far as the srt4 motor goes I WILL make it fit with my own custom mounts other than that the basic reason I want it... those motors are strong really stronger.. stronger than a 4g63. RippMOD made 519whp on a stock block find me a 4g63 that can do that? point is i think the motor is alot more reliable and pretty bad ass so will see if I get some mounts made n' i'll let you guys know how it goes.

You pull out 519 on the SRT-4 stock block as superior to the 4g63? One, I think there are higher-hp stock-block SRT-4s out there; two, there are 4g63s that have run all the way up to almost 600 whp on the stock block.

I still don't understand this project. I know it's possible to swap an SRT-4 engine into a first-gen Neon, a guy on a local racing board has it done. It's probably a hell of a lot easier. A 95 Neon coupe weighs 2400 pounds stock, a good 400 pounds less than a 1g FWD. You can already easily make as much or more power with a 4g63 that bolts into that 1g FWD easy as pie.

Thats pretty sweet, is it just going to be the stock motor or you plan on modifying it once its in?

550whp has been made on a stock 2g motor and close to 600whp n a stock 1g motor. I've seen plenty of srt motors fail with less power but thats most likely due to poor tuning options. The only thing "bad ass" about it is that is 2.4l stock.Doesn't really matter becuase once you put a big turbo and EMS behind it you'll kill the motor.

Waste of time. If you are trying to be different by putting an srt4 motor into a 1g, just step back and ask yourself whats the point. If you could somehow make this abomination work, everybody is just going to look at you like WTF anyhow.

Exactly. It's being different just to be different without any real benefit. The cool hybrids are those where you gain something by going through all the trouble and expense to do the swap. LS1 in an RX-7, reliability and torque. F20C in an old Corolla- light weight RWD shell with 9k rpm 240hp engine. 4g63 into a CSM- lightweight 4g63 turbo power. With this swap you aren't really gaining anything. It's just a 1g dsm with an engine that can do the same thing a 4g63 can do, only with a lot of time and effort put into fitting a Neon engine into it. People appreciate hard work and ingenuity in engine swaps, but only when they can say "huh, this car is worth all the time and effort that was put into it." Otherwise they just make fun of you.

Well if you do DO this, then I live all of 40 minutes away from you and will drive to see it!

Wanna tell that to Steve from AGPTurbo that is running EMS and 600hp on a completely stock motor. And about half a dozen others pushing over 500hp down here.

ripp first off made 519 whp off of pump gas. the a583 motor is very strong motor. this isn't a 420a. i've been on a bigger turbo for quite awhile and has been running stronger and more reliable than any of the 3 dsm's i've owned. but like everyone said it makes more sense to put the motor in a 1g neon

If i'm not mistaken the tranny and motor on an srt are the complete opposite.....it would be acompletly custom job....I would scoop up a 95 neon shell for 100 bucks and swap into that...

You want to mention that to the 3 people I now personally here that have blown their motors? I didn't say the motor was bad, and eluded to the real cause of failures. DSMs were tuned on AFCs forever w/o problems though. The piston ring lands on teh SRT motor don't take knidly to detonation at all. Cas tuned well on c16 will probably make good power. Its the guys pushing them on pump gas that kill them ;)

As far as one being more reliable than a dsm, you think it might have to do witht he srt being substantailly newer?
LOL
people there days........

Yes it is, no it isn't, yes it will, no it won't.

Good luck with it. As you see, no one here can help you with the idea.

Research carefully to see just what all you're putting yourself up against.
