Does it go away after a bit?

I had the same problem thinking it was my Power steering pump going bad because the cap pissed out all the fluid.

What it turned out to be (and I found out just last night) was that the alternator belt wasn't as tight as it should be. It started slipping bad last night and then all of a sudden all the dummy lights came on signifying the alternator "died". Drove it home, woke up today, tightened the alternator belt, and problem solved. No squeel and no dummy lights.

The belt probably stretched out over time and just needed to be retightened.

Well hope that helps. Freakin slap myself in the head for not checking the alternator belt all these months. Must have adjusted the p/s pump 10 times..haha. OMG

Check the belts for tightness.

Also watch your crank pulley/dampner. They tend to start seperating after a while. I just recently replaced the one on my 97 GST. When I took it off the motor, it seperated into two pieces.

BTW the inner piece of the crank pulley fits nicely in the cup of a floor jack..... = more lift height.

my car also sqweaked but after a water pump install, thought it was the belts, several months later turned out to be the crank pulley that seperated from the dampner. you better check just to make sure its not the pulley
