Miss at startup

Hey guys. There is a 2g talon tsi at a car lot near my house. I'm going to test drive it tommorrow. It has 140,000 miles. He is selling it for 1500. I called the owner to ask him about it and he says it has a miss at startup but once it gets going it stops. I don't have any expirence with the turbo models and was wondering if ya'll have any idea what might be the problem before I buy it. I really want this car seeing how right now I've got a slow 95nt M/T and an even slower 95 nt A/T. Thanks.

It's going to be hard for you to determine. It sucks because you have to go in blind. What the seller calls a miss may or may not be a true "miss". Then, assuming he is correct on the "miss" actually being a miss, you'll have to track the culprit down. $1500 is pretty cheap especially if the car is in good condition.
I mean it's possible it's as simple as the car has plugs that need to be changed. I'd get under the hood, make sure every sensor you can see is secure. check over the belts if you can see them. Ask about fluid levels. If you can listen for obvious intake leaks etc..

Well I drove it today and it sounds like more than a miss. The car was shaking pretty bad. It's an automatic. and was idleing really low. It ran pretty good once I hit about 40 but once I got up to 85 the car would shake pretty bad I'm still considering getting it but I want to sell my truck first. I may see if he would let me take it to a mechanic before I decide for sure.
