squeaks when i turn?

i think my p/s belts are slipping or something...when i hit the lock of my turn it squeaks. and if i hold it does one of the two... while moving, chirp chirp chirp (like i have fat new tires) or a squeeeeaakkk...sorda long and most deff loud. :thumbdown do any of you guys have the same prob?

yea dude its your p/s belt i had the same problem and i didnt know what it was and i was racing this kid one day and i hit rev limiter in 2nd and the belt flew off and when i put a new one on i made it rather tight and it doesnt squeel any more just make sure u keep it rather tight

so how hard is it to change the p/s belt?

its not hard at all there is tensioner pully just make it loose take the old one off and put the new one on and make it rather tight

can i make a visual inspection of the belt? if the belt is good, can i just tighten the tension pully?thanks!

Yes, do a visual inspection. If it appears to be OK, tighten it a little and that should solve the problem. If it starts squeaking after a relatively short period of time, I would replace the belt because it is most likely on its way out. Oh, and you aren't supposed to hit the steering locks, cars don't like that.
