I agree, I don't think the style will ever grow old. Even though the thing has been hit twice and needs repairs, people still complement the looks on mine all of the time.

1998gstspyder, love the black on black on black. Contructive critisism would be that the clear corners stand out WAY too much. I would recommend painting them black or tenting them in some way. Nice car though!!

Very little. It's not wheels that are tricky to fit. It's tires. I had a slight rear fender rub on 235's. Raising my height about 2mm cured it. Ditto when I went to 245's.

i rolled my rear fenders witha small lousville. no more rubbing at all
 
18x8s, 45 offset i believe on mine, masiv rubbing in back, rolled and beat alot. but Vert, i ownz jou and any spyder out there!!!! I called it, well on looks anyways. not one go LOL

I am running 18x8 with a +35 offset. Very, very, little, to none when it comes to rubbing. I still need to roll my fenders. I am running 235 - 40 - 18's.

Will a metal bat work too? Or is wood the way to go. . . . . ?

if you plan on using a metal bat make sure you atleast wrap it in electrical or duct tape so you don't actuially rip the paint off the fenders.
