I when to a local convertible shop and I got quoted at 1295 for a new top..I don't have 1300$. I'm.going to get other quotes...but what else can I do? Liquid rubber, like what they use on.truck beds

Ah, yes.. the downside to convertibles. I had some luck using duct tape on my old drop top for a while. But it depends on how bad the top is.

Yeah they don't cost that much. Try this place, its where I got mine from:

Eclipse Convertible Vinyl Top Defrost Window 1995-1999 items in The Auto Top Shop store on eBay!

If I remember correctly you can either take it to him to get it installed (the guy who sells it) or he will give you free advice on how to install it step-by step if you purchase one of his tops which should cost you 285-300 something.

Ya ..I just bought a new top for $375...cheapest I found on line for a canvas OEM top.

I figured it was simple to replace ... it ended up not so simple to do but I eventually got it in.

I wouldn't spend that much to get one put in. I would say buy a new one online and find a shop to put it in for ya or if your up for the task do it your self.

I love this issue with a convertible, well mine leaks too and I was thinking of spraying the top with plastiDip. I plan to replace the top in a few weeks when the money comes in. But as of now I cant drive the car in the rain. So im gonna try a few cans of plastidip, and see how it goes.

How did the plastic dip work?

There is a product that works well to seal them. Go to a boat store and buy canvas sealer. The spray on works the best. Wash the top real well take a lint roller to it and get all the debris off of it. Than spray it. It will seal it for a few years than you will have to re-apply. These type of tops are supposed to be re-sealed every few years to prevent leaking.

I went to Dick's Sporting Goods and picked up some Kiwi "Heavy Duty Water Repellent" for tents. It was around $10 for the can. I put on one medium coat, wiped down with a towel, waited 24 hours, and repeated. I used to get soaked driving in anything more than a light rain, now I dump the wash bucket on the top to clean it. It also made the top darker which is a nice change from a nearly gray canvas top.

You have to put the canvas sealer on thick and rub it in with your fingers. You will use the whole spray can on the roof. Let it dry for a good 48 hours. Also make sure you spray it on the outside.
