sputtering around 5000 rpm

I have a 93 tsi AWD and it has a gm maft and a apexi afc I'm running 15 lbs of boost and 1st gear wide open throttle there is no sputter but in every gear after that it sputters around 5000 rpm and on up. I've tried more fuel and less fuel and it never changes what could it possibly be. please give me any info. thanks

the same thing happened to me, i replaced my fuel filter and it was fine, that should be your problem if you have never replaced it, also check the fuel injectors

the injecters are rc 550s that were put in not to long ago but I'll try the filter thanks

Just something for you to consider. I had a very similar problem and I swore it wasn't the plugs because they were new and looked new blah blah. I thought it was something related to fuel, but at the end I changed them and 1 plug was the problem.

I have had this sputtering, bad power ever since i put on my maft setup. I have changed my plugs twice and adjusted my air to fuel both ways with no luck. I have no idea what it could be and have not found out either. I was told it is the air/fuel that is all messed up which is pulling timing at high rpms. but ??

edit: i didnt change the fuel filter because i dont think that would be the problem since it only happened after the maft install

problem sovled it was the gap in my plugs they were gapped to small.

just out of curiosity, how small was the gap? .28 or whatever they should be is really small to begin with.

yes it was.28 and I put it to .32 and now runs perfect.
