Alright i know lowering springs aren't the best way to lower your car but I'm looking for a temporary solution to some nasty fender gap. I would like something that will drop the car about 1". also i would like something with the same or stiffer spring rates. I'm going to be using stock struts (which i know isn't a good idea but like i said they're only going to be on there for the summer). Also what are the thoughts and experiences with strut tower bars and rear lower tie bars.

just cut your springs
clamp it down and mark off on both sides so you get the same level
it takes like 20min and your car will look clean
plus its a lot cheaper and won't damage your car what so ever

Do NOT cut your springs. They have specific rates and will result in terrible ride quality when altered that way; Also, you run the risk of improper seating.

The most inexpensive "temporary solution" next to lowering springs or fully adjustable coilovers are ground control "coilover" units. Honestly though, a used set of springs should not cost too much either. It sounds like you are aware that the factory struts will wear out faster too. Additionally, you will want to have your car re-aligned afterward.

IMO, do it right the first time. It will save you time, money, and effort.

Good to see you on the board again Alan. Awesome looking car btw. I would love to see more of it.

Anyways, Alan is right. If you're on a budget maybe some used H&R's or Prokits would do but this is really the kind of thing you only want to have to pay for and install once. Head over to the handling forum and do some research to plan your suspension upgrades. Planning makes all the difference.
