Spot A - Veterans Park
Has parking area for 50 or so cars but then has another piece of road (about 50 feet) attached to it that has another 50 spaces. Then Across from it. It has a picnic area that could sit about 30 or so people under the shelter and then more around it.

Spot A would be the more ideal i would think because it's tucked away off the main road. So we would attract considerably less unwanted attention from people passing by.

How does this area sound to you guys? And for a date for this shindig, how does may 16th sound?

You can count me in on may 16th But i need to know where veterans park is LOL.. any one from southern md wanna go up we can make our own parade.. if any one is interested in going up in a parade contact me we can make a meeting place.. and all leave together.

Veterans Park is in Woodbridge VA off of I-95 I think. PM Nytescion since he is from the area and he could probally give you better directions. Just need to see if the place and the date is good for everybody.

Hey nytescion, did you look at the park I was talking about? its occoquan regional park just across the bridge on 123. would be very easy for people to get to especially anyone coming from the highway, but just a thought. hopefully my car will be ready cause im new to dsm's and im having nothing but issue after issue with the car. first the 7bolt crankwalked then I had cooland issues, now my 16g broke completely and im having more coolant issues and some vacuum line issues. just hope that once i fix everything I can actually enjoy the car.

no i haven't checked it out yet. Like you i keep having issues so it's been swallowing up a little bit more of my time than normal. I don't work on monday so I should be able to look at it then.

As far as directions
get off I-95 at exit 156 toward rippon landing.
After you come off the exit turn left onto Route 1. (1 mile)
Drive down route 1 until you get to Featherstone Rd and turn right. (1 mile)
Drive to the end of the road (immediately after train track) and turn left (featherstone rd turns into Veterans Dr) (1 mile)
Follow this road into the park.

The park's address is 14300 Veterans Dr, Woodbridge Va. 22191 for those of you with GPS.

Note* this is a more direct path than GPS will give if you're coming from the north.

I just googled it should take me about an hour .. or so to get there. so Just let me know when the definate date is so i can plan ahead.. I dont want to sound stupid or what not.. but what all goes on at these meets. just bullshitin and show off session or do we go find straight roads and have some fun.. i know how we do it here in md but never been to a strict DSM meet. let me know .. thanks

Well when we nail down a specific day I was going to talk to some shops around the area. Maybe some will be able to come out and be a vendor. Hopefully one would be willing to do a special on dyno time if enough of us are willing or would like to. Once i get an answer from these shops I'll post back our options. As far as ripping up some pavement, I don't think would be good idea. That un-wanted attention we were trying to avoid that i mentioned about would become very unavoidable fast. Though we might be able to get some track time. We'll see.

Did anyone consider Mach V? They have a big-ass parking lot, right across from VIP supposedly. I went there during summer and they were having a barbeque/show kind of thing. I'm sure they'd love having a bunch of reliable DSMs in their parking lot just asking for parts...

Never even thought of Mach V. I'll try to get a hold of them to see what they say. Having the meet at a shop would be kool. How many cars would you say could fit in there parking lot?

The Dyno time would probably be the easiest/less expensive to do. Also the shop/track is right up the street about 10 miles or so. So there will be a little driving involved either way we do it. But because of time restraints we'd only be able to do one or the other. Take a vote?

I went to MachV right after VIP cause VIP didn't have the turbo to manifold gasket. Their parking lot you can only fit about 20 cars in it without being on top of each other. veterans is looking like the best choice really. I still haven't been to the occoquan park yet hopefully tomorrow will be able to.

You can count me in on the meet too.

I think dyno and track stuff would pretty much be another event. Please don't do any burnouts and such. That type of behavior is why we have so much trouble having these meets to begin with. This park, is the parking area paved well? Reason being, I don't like going off pavement or driving down shitty roads with $150/a piece tires. Also, thoughts on doing sunday instead of saturday? I don't know if the park is open on sundays, but I know some people have easier times getting sundays off vs saturdays.

im down for a saturday, like others have said, it will be nice to get something set in stone so I can get it into my schedule. Im fine with going wherever anyone else does, as long as my galant is welcome.

What is better for you guys, a saturday meet or a sunday meet? I also emailed Mach V and VIP to see if they would be willing to come out as vendors and has a possible parts raffle depending on the turn out. Oh and your galant is more than welcome there. If any of you guys know people with evo's they are more than welcom in my book. I might have a few people coming along that dont own DSM's.

I vote for a sunday because I know myself and a lot of other people have an easier time getting that day free. I myself will be taking several days off from work earlier that week and will probably be working saturday as a result and unable to make it to a saturday meet if it's that weekend. If it's a sunday I can say 100% for certain I will be there.

Sidenote, someone needs to make sure they take the appropriate action with the park to reserve whatever area we'll be in, or to make sure that at least that it won't be a problem. Last thing we need is to set all this up then find out we aren't allowed to do it because it wasn't properly set up. Most parks require a resident of the same county or city or whatever to book things like this.

Yes this is true about making sure that it is okay. How does making it a sunday work for everyone? Same weekend? Also Nytescion can you look into seeing what needs to be done to have this at the park?

I suppose i could work a sunday into it.. Should not be a problem ... But whoever the leader of this is needs to make a decision and stick to it.. because if everyyon on the site that wants to come has an input we will never have anything set in stone. I understand we are trying to get a good turn out.. But need a little leadershipo we cant make everyone happy all the time.. Not trying to be a dick .. Just trying to get something set because .. I need to take of or get a trade NOW for it

Yeah Sunday is perfectly fine, in fact better. It might be a lot less packed. Wait so can someone write the exact date, time(from blank to blank), and location for the hell of it.

I think you mean the 17th. It's ways away, but it sounds good to me. Whoever makes the arrangements at the park, is there a grill or anything there? Food always helps keep people sticking around.. hehe.

Already taking care of that. But I can't talk to them until a day is set. I was talking to them about May 16. So now it's May 19? Also yes the area we will be in is paved. You will not have to drive on any unpaved roads to get there. There are speed bumps but that's to keep people from speeding through the park. I'll try to get some pictures of the area and post them up. there are two grills aswell if my memory serves me correct.

I'm going to see what they have as far as security also. Just to try and keep the stupidity as low as possible (burn-outs, screeching tires, speeding, fights).
