Speedometers and motor mounts

My motor mounts are completely shot. I've taken them out along with the egine which is being rebuilt. I'm trying to do as much of this as possible myself. I was wondering if it is possible to remove the old motor mounts and insert the new motor mounts myself. Or do they have to be pressed in?
Also on my list of problems is my speedometer. It reads off by an unknown number of kilometers. The cable is intact and the speedo works, it just doesn't read the correct speed. I was told by the misubishi dealership that this error was built into the speedometer at the factory and that they couldn't fix it. Is this true? Or is there a fix out there for me? I reall don't feel like getting pulled over for speeding because of this stupid error.

if ya know how far off it is ya should be able to deal with it. but ive never heard of any error built into it. id think your rims/tires are not factory size. as for the motor mounts pressig them out is the easyest way..or just get inserts and call it good.

I've checked my rims and tires, Rims are stock and the tires are 205/55R16 which is what the stickers in the door say they should be.

How would I go about pressing out the mounts? They are completely shot, cracked right through and in 1 case they have about 1/2 inch of play on each side. Would inserts work in this case?

Your dealer -big surprise- is an idiot. Mechanical speedos work through eddy current generated by a magnet spinning inside an aluminum cup. The aluminum's tainted, and will support a low-level magnetic field. Any speedometer shop can re-calibrate it for you.

As for the mounts, have a shop with a press swap them out for you.

only mounts that needs to be pressed in is driver and passenger Prothane mounts.

OEM mounts come with the whole mount and bracket, so you just replace the whole thing
