SO i feel like i have messed up big this time. I just bought the greddy turbo timer. I installed it fine, I followed all the instructions. I made all of the connection with the connectors and used tape on bald wires. The last thing I did was hooks up was the wire from the tt to the speed senser wire on the ecu. It was working fine all day, and then i was going down the road and the speedometer went down durning accerlation then went up and finally all the way down and hasn't moved since. I was wondering if anyones has had this problem or could just help me. Thanks

are the rest of the gauges fine there is a fuse, but if it goes they will all quit working. Also why dont you try to unhook the speedo wire of the tt and see if you speedo starts working again. It could just be a loose connection messing with it.

ok, i took the speed wire for the tt off and it still dosen't respond. All of the other gauges are still working properly. I took it to a local performance shop that i know of they said that it might be ecu or the speed senser on the trans. does either of these sound like they would be the prob. Thanks

well their is a sensor in your transmission but I highly doubt that that sensor all of asudden went bad. I would check and make sure the connection going into the harness is still good. also are you splicing these wires together then taping them? You really will get a much better connection if you solder the wires together and not jsut twist them together.

well now the wire to the tt is off the ecu. I connected the wires back togather with a wire connector that you crempt the wires in. Is there a way that this whole thing fired just that part of the ecu. And also where is somewhere to find a used ecu other than ebay. Thanks

i dont have a turbo timer but my speedometer sticks sometimes... Like Ill be doing 55 and it stays there even as im accelerating and then suddenly it jumps to 75 ( say i was going that fast ) ... Maybe the needle is just off, I have the reverse glow gauges and maybe when I put that together it threw it off? ( despite those have been in for like a yr now with no problems bef0re)

Yours sticks most likely because the speedo cable needs to be lubed up. 1gs have a mechanical speedometer and 2gs have an electronic speedometer.

Ok about a week ago I installed a turbo timer to the speed sensor wire on the ecu. The speedometer was working fine along with all the functions on the tt, later that night the speedometer stopped working all of a sudden. I took it by a local performance shop to see if they had any ideas. He told me that all the connections were done properly and so we began to trouble shoot the problem, but soon ran out of ideas. We disconnected the tt from the speed sensor wire on the ecu, and still nothing. So I have been driving the car around with out the speedometer working, before I started driving it I reset the tripodometer. That was a couple of days ago, and today I just happened to look down and there was about a 8 th of a mile on the trip. This does not make any since to me, could it be the speed sensor on the trans. went out or is there a relay of somesort some where for the speedometer. Thanks for any ideas, because I am completely out of them and a new speed sensor is $90 and that is kind of an exspensive trial and error step. SO i thought I would get some more input first.
Thanks again Dan

Connect a voltmeter to pin 14 (yellow/white wire) of the 16 pin OBDII data link connector (minus lead to ground). Turn key to ON (or start engine) and roll car very very slowly forward or backward 6'-10'. If sensor is working voltage will alternate between 0.2 and 10.9VDC.

Is pin 14 of the 16 pin OBDII data link connector on the ecu or where is it on the car. And also is there any site locations on the internet that have the pin layout. Thanks

Yes most likely (or you have a short to ground in that wire's circuit). Make sure you have the key on and the voltmeter minus to a frame ground and move car slowly (not more than 1/2 ft per sec) a few feet (and watch meter while doing this). You can test if your meter is working by measuring pin 16 - should be +12V. I can send you a test for the sensor if you wish but you'll have to pull it out and pm me an email address that accepts attachments.
