hey whats up wich clutch has the best holding power and longest life an act 2100/2600 or a spec stage2/stage3

i have a 94 eagle talon tsi lightly modded all my mods are in my info im not gonna be doing too much more for the mods till next year wen i rebuild the motor but my clutch went and i need to put one in to get me through the summer and wen i rebuild my motor iim gonna put a better one in so give me your opinions thanx

I would not bother with Spec clutches, a local went through 3 of them in less than 1000 miles if I remember right. It was an AWD car with a 16g and one of the best drivers around, who thought he'd give the stage 2 a try but wasn't very happy needless to say. He now has an ACT and 0 problems. I know 1 experience doesn't mean everything but I would skip the hassle and go with what is proven.

well if you decide on the spec clutch a guy on ebay is selling stage 2 and 3 for 339 shipped. I recently bought one but still havent installed it. And on the act note look for the thread with all the failed act clutches. ;)

And what, you will read that it was install error? ACT clutches are fine.

Some of people's stories about the ACT clutches are a bit worrisome, but I have had my ACT2100 in for 62,000 miles without any problems. But now it is getting replaced with an SBR3500 because I have the tranny out for a rebuild. The clutch still looks real good, but with 62k I thought better just replace it and the flywheel anyway. The act2100 is more than enough for a mildly modded vehicle, but if you are going serious with the engine rebuild, you may want to get the 2600. What are your future goals? I almost got the spec stage 2, but decided on the sbr3500 instead. It is probably overkill for me right now, but hopefully more mods will be coming soon.

I have used the ACT 2600 for 3 years now and have about 25k on it and have never had a problem. My car is heavily moded and is some where in the mid 400hp range (never dynoed) 26psi on a 60-1 SBR turbo. I will be changing the clutch disk in a couple of weeks just because I'm pulling the tranny to install my new Kormex LSD unit and figured I would replace it since I have the tranny out. I'm going to replace the street disk with one of Slowboy racings 3500 disks just to try it out. Act is a good proven performer!
