yea so my cars got like 100,000 miles on it, what are some good plugs to be using? i was thinkin bosh 4s but someone told me they would be bad for my car..

for those of us that live in phoenix their is a place called BAP auto imports. They sell the plugs for $1.75 each. I usally buy a few sets at a time when i go in, if they have that many in stock. They usally do.

My napa store doesn't have any instock EVER. :( I guess I should just have them order me about 20. ;)

i would not suggest them, i however would suggest the NGK BPR8ES for running high boost and/or nitrous. the NGK's have been proven/tested so why take the risk on some plug made by ZEX? stick with the brand that most DSM'ers trusts, NGK.

Incorrect recommendation, go with either NGK BPR6ES if you are running 15psi> or BPR7ES if you are running higher boost. Skip the ZEX plugs, the NGKs are perfect for you and they only cost $14 for the set.

you are only partially correct. i said run the BPR8ES for HIGH BOOST AND NITROUS COMBINATION. if you are just running high boost then go with the BPR7ES, and if you are running stock to about 18psi go with the BPR6ES. but all in all, forget the ZEX plugs. ive ran nitrous, high boost, and lower boost, trust the people who have been there. if you dont believe me then here is a quote from slowboy racing. "These plugs are one step "colder" than stock and take well to increased boost or the addition of race fuel much better than the stock recommendation of the BPR6ES. The plugs themselves are copper-based and our shop can get all of the thermal ranges, ranging from the BPR6ES (stock), BPR7ES (one step colder), BPR8ES (two steps colder). The BPR8ES is used for turbo cars seeing a high amount boost along with the addition of Nitrous!" so if you are running nitrous along with high boost, go with what i said, the BPR8ES...if you are running just high boost or want a colder plug from stock, go with the BPR7ES.

BPR6ES

Remember Splitifres?

Spark plugs ain't magic.

i ran those on my car running 25psi and fouled them within a week, i ran the BPR7ES and had no issues for quite a long time, then i added nitrous and fouled the BPR7ES's within a few days, now switched to BPR8ES's and have not fouled a single plug. go with the info i gave above, it will serve you better than 'defiant's' BPR6ES assumption that they can handle anything and that spark plugs arent magic, they (BPR6ES's) can not handle everything, and yes, spark plugs ARE magic. they can make or break a car. they (BPR6ES's) can not handle high boost for long, unlike the BPR7ES's can...add nitrous and the BPR7ES's can not handle high boost and nitrous like the BPR8ES's can.

I have gone through another set of plugs...

After a couple months it seems I get misfire in cylinder one everytime it hits boost.

Just wondering how often to your plugs go bad and if maybe a boost leak and running rich could be a culprit on them fouling quicker?

My NGKs hold up for about a year in most cases. Even then they aren't fouling out but I change them as part of maintenance.

Definately figure out why the car is running so rich. Boost leak is an easy test that is usually the culprit.

Ok, well everyone that carries NGK was out of stock in town. I needed them bad. Went back with the Bosch. What is the gap with the Bosch platinum single? I see that you have a gap of .028 with the dual arm or w/e you want to call it. Will it be the same with the single?

NEED HELP NOW!!! plz.

I gapped it at .04

hey i was looking for the exact model number of accel plugs for a 1995 eagle talon tsi. i think the number is ACL-7920R but i'm not sure. also would ngk bpr7es be good for about 275-350 hp, or would the bpr6es be better? any help would be much appreciated. mad props to the site as well it helps make us DSMer's smarter!!!

Regapped them to .038 as by Bosch website. Still no change. Started it up and was either misfiring (what scantron said) or detonating. Limped to friends shop and hooked up the good scantron not the Autozone one. I see it pulled the timing hardcore to get it to run right.

2morrow i'm gonna pull fuel filter and #1 injector. Will replace fuel filter and clean it. Other than that hopefully DSMRevolution still have those injectors from the 1g he was parting out. They will work right?

Whoops, This is Shifty, I see my g/f signed up here......... Means she is prolly checkin up on me... ghey.

First off take those platinum plugs out of your car, platinum and irudium plugs and turbo DSM's dont get along, they run hotter then stock and thats a very bad thing in turbo cars, if anything you want plugs one colder then stock as said before get yourself a set of good old cheap NGK BPR6ES and gap them to .28 problem fixed, just get the platinum plugs out and fast.
