spark plugs bad?

how can you tell if my spark plug or spark plug wires are bad? i have a picture of this one and it looks kind of melted? its the wire closest to the driver side...this one is the worst...from the passenger side the first 2 are fine...third is a little melted but no like this one...is this bad? should i replace the plugs and wires? i planned to anyways but the bigger question is if i change the plugs and wires will this just happen to the new ones? do i need to check or fix something first? Spark plug wires get beat up from removing them and re installing them a lot. If they don't line up with the spark plug head and you jam them on they get a little crushed and mangled too. Looks like that spark plug hole is a little oil colored as well. Make sure you don't have any oil hanging around in the valve cover tray. Oil cap gaskets sometimes leak or you just miss pouring oil in the engine .

Don`t quote me but i believe i recall that in a dark garage u can see the bad wires arching very clearly. Plus, new plugs and wires aren`t that expensive so why not replace.

How old are they? Personally I'd just replace them.

+1 on replacing. If they're old you'll diffently notice a slight gain in throttle response and idle.
