2G Sourcing a new MTX VSS gear?

I recently had to replace the clutch on my 97 GST and when I dropped the transmission the VSS got broke on accident. So I ordered a new sensor but it didn’t come with a new gear. My question is how do you get the gear into the sensor?

Do you have the new gear? On the other Mitsubishi VSS sensors the gear was held on with a roll pin.

The FSM isn't much help, it shows the gear and shaft was one piece.
