something weird just occured to me!

Earlier today I was driving around when I got to a stop light my car stated to idle really funny. When the light turned greenI took off and the car started to sputter like crazy, so I pulled over in a parking lot and popped the hood. Guess what I found? one of my spark plug wires was off the coil I have no idea how that happened, I installed those 2 days ago(correctly). So I put the wire back on and it was better. So I drive off and 2 stop lights later it happened again WTF(the same freakin wire). This went on til I got home, so I guess it was about 8 or 9 times. Anybody else w/ this experience?

what wires are you using? A friend bought the crapo wires from autozone and they kept popping off just like you are having problems with. He ended up putting a zip tie around the boot and cinching it to the coil. He went back to autozone and asked why it happened, the service guy said "dunno bring them in and get a new set" when he was trying to remove them one of the conductors stayed attached to the spark plug and the boot came off. They still returned them. I would rather spend a few extra bucks and not have to deal with this problem. Maybe his fix will work for you, but I would be dissatisfied if I purchased a product and had to deal with this, I would simply return them or get a new set.

Just stick a screwdriver into the end of the wire and expand the locking tangs. You will see the brass terminal has a split in it. Right at the split, you will see two tabs. Stick the screw driver between them and spread them open. This will help the wire lock into the coil.

I use the magnacore 8.5and yes I tried to stick a screwdriver in the tabs and expand it but its still did( I tried that the 2nd time it happened). It only popped off when I was at a complete stop( sitting at idle) and you can hear it pop off.

Sometimes the spark plug wire doesn't seat properly in the coil, even if it does feel secure. Not that uncommon at all.
