Some kind of miss/sputter

First post here, bought a 98 gs-t, drove it for a week or two, and now whenever I give any sort of throttle for around 10 seconds it leans out and starts missing/sputtering. The problem started when I came out from work to a dead battery (my mistake, left the lights on for 12 hours ) jumpstarted it, let it warm up, and hooned it out of the parking lot. If it starts missing, I have to clutch it and let it idle for a second before resuming acceleration. If it sees boost, I can give it throttle longer, but it still misses. It does have lifter tick, and for some reason that's what I think is causing it (some kind of sensor freaking out) it's also throwing a code, but I dont have access to a reader for a couple of weeks, and by that time the revised lifters I ordered will be in, so I plan on replacing them and seeing if that fixes it. When the car starts missing, the engine starts shuddering. Any ideas on whether it could be anything else?

Could be a number of things but I'd start with new spark plugs and wires. I had this same issue when I first bought my dsm and it turned out to be the spark plug wires.

I'm picking up the wires tomorrow, the parts stores around here have to special order everything decent for these cars

If you have a CEL on pull into an auto parts store, they'll scan for free and give you the code. Might tell you exactly what the issue is.

Get the code. No point doing anything else first.

Update. Pulled the codes, got random/multiple misfire. Cleared them, and the engine started running fine. Haven't had a problem again for the past two days. Not sure what caused it, but I have changed the plugs, have a set of wires, and changed the lifters/lash adjusters. Thanks for the help

Nice. So the only thing you changed so far were the plugs?

Yeah, but none of the old ones were fouled, or looked like they were running too lean/rich. I still ended up getting wires, but haven't put them on yet, and literally just got done doing the lifters.
