So long story short I have solid front and rear engine mounts. Eventually had a no start, engine and trans seperated due to my top bell housing bolts broke inside and front dowl bolt being mia. How fixable is this? It’s the rear dowl hole on the block, and how bad are solid mounts? Is this a normal thing? It’s just a summer/ highway sprinter. Thanks in advanced

They will break there without those dowels every time, as far as fixable I suppose you could build the area up with weld and grind it back flat again, solid mounts transmit what ever vibration the engine makes to the frame, so I would try to stave off as much vibration as possible first, this means a smooth running engine from a good tune, running an aftermarket crankshaft dampener and or balance shafts and not lugging the engine, other than that they are tolerable as far as I am concerned, depends on your expectations, dont expect it to ever be as smooth as it was from the factory thats all.

Car is far from stock, I’m pretty sure the dowl was in place before it broke. Also don’t know how many bolts were missing before that decided to crack. I do have a dampener, far from factory smooth, car shakes the hood at idle LOL
