Socketing non-EPROM Ecu's??? Info?

Does anyone have any links or info, reading (anything!! haha ) On putting a socket for an EPROM into a non-eprom DSM ecu?? I have an extra ECU lying around and I want to get a chip for it, but its a non-EPROM version. I definately have the soldering tools/skills to get the job done right, but I haven't been able to find any info on who has done this, or pictures... anything would be good now! If you guys can help me out itd be great, thanks again!

Sorry to burst your bubble but right now there isn't any cost effective way to turn a Non-EPROM ECU into a EPROM ECU.

Thats what i hear..... but no one seems to be able to say exactly why? Is there any like in depth reads on specific DSM ECU operations, the physical layouts? I wondered what makes it so difficult to adapt a non-eprom because i simply dont know enough about the operations i guess haha.

The simple answer is too much stuff on the board is custom to this application.

The cost of the components to do this, as well as the costs asociated with such a custom job, make it not worth it. Just buy an EPROM ECU at this point.

I've read its a piggyback board that costs way more than just buying an eprom ecu.
