Hey, thanks for taking the time to read this. I'll keep it quick.

I bought the talon second gear grinded when going into it. If you took it really easy it would go in.

I changed the fluid to an MT-90 blend with MTL. Now it grinds going into first to the point where I have to just give up, going into second, and I am starting to hear a little in 3rd.

The issue is much less prevalent when the engine is fully warmed up and it has never popped out of gear.

Is it pretty safe to say she is done? Where is the best place to buy a new one?

Honestly, by the time you get new syncros and factor in the time of repair. It would be cheaper to just buy a used trans off somebody on here.

I have gotten MINT, 5 spd trans (FWD) for $125-150 from craigs or members. The one I bought for $120 or so, is silky smooth feels brand new.

Rebuilding a trans, takes a little bit of skill and the neccessary equipment such as a Press would need to be on hand.

FWIW -- it's important not to try to force a 1G transmission. They're notchy from the factory and you have to allow the synchros to do their job or the result will be damage. I'm currently running Pennzoil Synchromesh in my '90 GSX and shifting is the smoothest it's ever been (including brand new), but it's absolutely necessary to cooperate with the sychros.

Readjust your shifter cables and clutch and see if that improves things at all..
Also check that your shifter bushings arent worn as well.. Actually id just replace them with the steel ones anyways because its cheap.
Quick syncro test is in neutral lightly try and push it into a specific gear but not all the way and if it grinds thats a decent indicator of a worn syncro
