Is My Trans Gone

I WAS DRIVING AROUND last night and then all of a sudden i couldnt switch into 2nd and i have an automatic, any help to what it may be other than that help me out.

i havent checked it yet but i was driving around and it was fine then all of a sudden i felt a jolt and then i couldnt switch gears..so you think i should check trans fluid before assuming the worst?

Remember, you check it when the car is on

are you saying the gear selector is not working in the car if so its not the Trans fluid. Id start by checking Fuses for the safety switch on the break peddle.

well after careful look at everything i noticed that my makeshift uicp had came apart is that what it could have been? To tell the story so everyone is on the same page i was driving the hell out of it for a buddy and i was in the middle of a good pull on some boost then i let off because i seen a cop and it jolted, then after that it wouldnt shift into i believe it was second cant hardly tell since it is an auto but thats the story any help would be great.
