Ok So I am working on my car and we have the side plate to the bottom of my 4g63 engine and everyone has told me that all you have to do is pry the plate off so you can see the internals of the oil pump shaft. Me and my buddy are having difficulties getting it off. I have heard that it is very fragile and also heard that it just pops off. We have taken all of the bolts out and gears off. Any suggestions?

The left side of the piece does pry off but the circled part is not coming off. Any suggestions? I am really needing some help with this!! If we do happen to break this piece is it very easy to get a hold of a replacement part?

Thats the front case, they make lost of replacements. Bad news is they are in the range of 150 bucks. It doesnt take too muck pressure to pop it off, your just peeling the gasket from the steel in essence so no brute strength is needed. Check for a remaining bolt up a little. The haynes manual has all the bolt locations

It just prys off put a pry bar or screw driver on each side and apply even pressure and tap the cover with a rubber hammer. Hope this helps

Well my uncle is letting me use his garage to work on my car and he wants it back before april so i have ran out of time to work on my car so I am going to have to take it to a mechanic because I do not have time to work on it. And also I broke the plate trying to pry this piece off. ... Thanks for the help though guys!

it might be easier to pull it off if you detatch your oil pump balance shaft. loosen the cap that covers it (in the top of your red circle) and then take the bolt out of the shaft. that should make it easier to "pry" that front case off.
