Where in the hell do you guys in PA and WV even ride? Doesn't seem like much is East of the Rockies. Are they just little podunk little hills with like 500ft of vertical rise?

I Ride a K2 Darkstar with Tech nine Bindings, I didn't go out last year because I had no money. I broke my back in 07/08 season in the Big air contest at Bosten Mills.. Fail...

You got it!

This is the 'hill' I grew up on:
Ski Roundtop

This is another one that I've been to:
Welcome to Whitetail Resort

And then we have the Poconos, but I have yet to be out there. Hopefully this year I can get out there though.

But that's exactly why I'm asking for recommendations. I don't know big mountains other than Sunday River. I haven't even been to any places in VT or NH. And I'm sure mountains out west are a whole different game than the 'hills' we have over here on the east coast.

my childhood friend went to UVM for two years before transferring to utah to ski. he would always complain about the skiing out there, "im at the top of the mountain at 2000 ft and im getting ####in rained on" ROFL

Nice, I have wanted to try the banana board, I rock burton bindings and boots with an old ride board (BOARDS ARE REALLY EXPENSIVE)

Ps. where is the hill in Saskatchewan? ;)

We have mission ridge but its really sad haha I wish I lived in Calgary LOL

I have been to panorama, sunshine, lake louise, kimberley, fernie, bridger bowl, red lodge, and kicking horse. There are things I like about each one, and in the end it depends on what kind of snow they get. For example I've been to panorama 10 times, and ridden in powder over waist deep, and other times its been icy.

This year im going to panorama again, revelstoke, whitefish, and hopefully sunshine.

I've never been to whitefish or revelstoke but heard they are both killer. I know revelstoke always gets TONNES of snow. Has anyone been to either of these?

A buddy of mine went up to Revy for a weekend last season. Says the area kicks ass, but needed more snow at the time.

I think anywhere you go, be it Utah, Colorado, or the PNW, you get powder days and you get icy/firm days when there's too much time between storms. I just cross my fingers for storm systems.

So what's the best resort you guys have been to? If I were to travel to a city/town/resort, where would you recommend? I'm up for anything, but would love to board in real snow and possibly do some back country riding.

Well if you want to come big mountain riding there's some beautiful mountains out here, all of which have unbelievable board parks/pipes.

Sunshine:
Banff hotels, Canada - Banff ski packages, Vacations, Ski Resort, Holidays, Snow Report, Web Cams and More.

Lake Louise:
The Lake Louise Ski Area & Mountain Resort - Alberta, Canada

Fernie:
Fernie Alpine Resort Canada - Fernie Ski Vacations

Fernie is some epic riding, the snow out here is so light and fluffy, we don't get that wet snow on this side of the Rockies. If you do come out this way to ride, send me a vine, I'm always down for it.

I have a big list of my favorite resorts in Colorado. Each has it's reasons that I love going there.

Copper Mountain - This is my all time favorite resort because the back bowls can't be beat. If you ski off the Mountain Chief lift, to even get to the double black run, there's a 20 foot cliff drop that leads into some of the steepest terrain I've ever ridden.

Plus, they give free cat rides to some killer back country stuff - something all the other mountains charge for. Also, if you are trying to learn to jib, they've got a beginner park that ABSOLUTELY no one goes into. I doubt most people even know it exists...So you can learn to jib without anyone making fun of you for wiping out and without feeling bad cause you're holding up the jib line.

Beaver Creek - I love this place!!! If you know where to go on the mountain, you will have 0.00 lift lines all day long...Even on a Saturday. Was there last season on a Saturday when it was dumping snow and even though most of the mountain was uber packed, I still waited in no lift lines. If you like hauling ass and hitting massive rollers and kickers - it's tough to beat Beaver Creek.

Vail. Vail is huge. I believe it's either the largest or 2nd largest ski area in the US. On pow days, heading back to Blue Sky Basin in the morning is like something out of a dream. Wide open runs, moguls, trees, cliff drops...It's got it all.

Loveland Loveland's draw for me is that it's really close and is never crowded. While you may wait in massive lines at Keystone, Abasin, Vail & Breckenridge, that will never happen to you when you're at Loveland. Doesn't matter what lift you're on and doesn't matter what time of day/year it is...Lift lines at Loveland simply do not exist. And when it snows at Loveland, you had better watch out cause the snow totals really stack up. Was there toward the end of last season and was riding in 35" (Yes, that's 35 inches) of powder on a Saturday. The rest of the ski areas in Summit County were so packed that people were parking miles away and walking in...But Loveland's parking lot was maybe 1/3 full. Place was almost a ghost town.

Did somebody say 35" of powder?

I actually have pics of that from my little podunk local resort...

But really, all it ever does here in the PNW is rain and drop super heavy wet snow.

I have been to all of those you mentioned except bridger bowl (where is that :hmm:) My personal favorite is kimberley, but thats just because two years ago I lucked out and was there when they got 4 feet of snow, best riding of my life!

I normally hit up sunshine, lots of runs, fairly constant conditions (above average imo) and its not too far of a drive :rocks:.

I wish we got powder like that in NJ. I'll be boarding as much as I can this year.. I'm still rocking my same ol Burton Air 153 etc. Looking to really hit the terrain park hard (jumps > rails).

Wisp ski resort, is the only place I have been.. I need to get out and check out other resorts.. I haven't snow boarded for three years, torn ACL kept me from doing so.. Going this year forsure:hellyeah:

I ride a Burton Custom 169 for free ride/Mountain riding with Burton Cartel Limited Bindings.
For the the park I have the 2009 Burton Custom X 154 with Burton Cartel Limited Bindings.
Shawn White Collection boots.

169! man how tall are you? I've heard nothing but good things about cartel's. I was thinking about getting them this year, but I ended up not, just because im not that into burton.

Cascade mountain (hill) is one of the biggest resorts in Wisconsin, and get this.

IT'S DESIGNED FOR SNOWBOARDERS. There's rarely any skiiers there. : ) All terrain, every run.

cascade sucks since they got rid of the superpark last year. and not all the runs have terrain features. like the runs on the left without lights dont have anything. and theres so many skiers there. especially on the old superpark lift because its the highspeed lift.

you from waukesha, so i take it you go to alpine?

Yeah all the time man!

im so stoked for the season.

ride 155 board, tech n9ne bindings, burton boots.
hoping i can get a season pass, but well see what happens.

all i can say is utah. good for 2 things.
mormons and snowboarding.:rocks:

too bad i live in the southwest corner, its quite a drive to the good resorts.

You PA, MD, and WV guys should go to Seven Springs sometime. I drive right past Whitetail and Roundtop on my way there. The extra travel time is worth it.

So we've been getting a lot of snow from recent storms and most of the resorts around the PNW are opening up on Friday. I went up last Sunday to my local resort to hike up and get a few turns in the fresh snow with a buddy.

Halfway up, I got warm so I took my jacket off and stuffed it into my backpack. Go to put my backpack on, which also is carrying my skis, throw it over my left shoulder and *POP!*, dislocated shoulder for the ninth time. :| This is the second time since arthroscopic surgery back in '98. I get to go see the ortho tomorrow to talk about another surgery. I'm still going to try and get some good days in before I go under the knife again though. Dammit. :(

It looked good before I blew out my shoulder on the hike up. The snow outside of the cattrack we were hiking was up to my crotch...

Your nuts. I took off my skis and hiked up the mountain for the first time last year to get to the back bowls and that was just brutal. It was hard cardio!
