I took a turn a at like 20 i think i should have slowed down a little bit more but half way threw the turn my awd turned into rwd. (not literally) The back just walked right out it was crazy. Has this happend to other people.

Most probably your rear tires hit some ice or just some loose snow, and just fishtailed right out, unless you gave the car some gas, then that answers your question!

Be Careful man, fishtailing can be fun when you anticipate it...LOL

the rear wheels get a little more power in AWD because of the diff. this has happened to me as well..but ive controlled it as far as fishtailing and only have actually spun out 2 times to my knowledge. just take it easy and dont give it gas while going around corners. play it safe and good luck. :thumb:

So how was it that it became RWD (not literally)? I've accomplished the same thing with a FWD car in snow while braking.

It's not a snow issue, it's a driver issue. :thumb:

The snow becomes VERY fun with my Goodyear Eagle F1's :nono:

I have noticed my car will fish tail it out when i give it a little gas in the turns. I believe its normal in these cars. I just barely touch the throttle in turns. I have regular all season tires, so they dont help much either.

no, they don't. same final drive front and rear with a 50/50 split (someone on here calculated it to 50.0001/49.9999 or something like that). the difference is that the weight distribution is more biased towards the front.

and yes, oversteer in the snow is common. did you get off the gas quickly and apply the brake immediately? when did the oversteer occur?

i was barley on the gas and the oversteer occured then i tapped the brake and i just slid a little bit till i slowed to like 10 mph then continued on. there was 3 inchs + on the roads.

after a bit of practice you will get to used to it and you will be able to use that "Sliding"
to your advantage.

Brake before you turn! And you should never brake in the turn on snow, your front wheels bite more on brakes and it could lock those up. So now your have 4 wheels going in some crazy direction.

Since when? DSM's are 60/40. You have to weld your center diff. to get 50/50 and then the cars turn pretty crappy if you need to make a shape turb.

When my transfer case was going I had that problem all the time, even in rain. But I would say check the tires first.

Having AWD does not equal a license to drive faster than is considered safe for current conditions.

In other words, don't assume you can take Turn X at Speed Limit Y+10 just because you have all-wheel drive. And if you do, here are some reason's why I say this: Thread.
Posts 1-3 are what I'm talking about.

i take my car out into snowy parking lots and simulate sitituations just like that, have some fun while i do it too ROFL , just dont do it near curbs!

I would like to know where you got this information. Got any links?

The only reason that the car turns crappy with a welded diff/spool/vce is because the front and rear axles are locked together. With the stock diff and vicious coupler, the front and rear axles able to rotate at different speeds while in turns to smooth out the ride and reduce wear on drivetrain parts. The vicious coupler also makes the dsm a 50/50 split.
