small vibration noise coming from inside the tranny

So I just rebuilt the engine including swapping the crankshaft for a reman. When I was finished I started it and there is a small vibration noise coming from inside the tranny, sounds to be on the edge of the bell hosing. When I put the motor back in I know it was a tighter fit than normal and the clutch did not want to spin freely to aling the bolts like normal- it took prying with a screwdriver to turn it. The noise only happens sometimes, is the same type and sound with any rpm's. Im not that familiar with trannys but I took it to a mechanic and they said it was not coming from the bell housing. When I listen to it the point on the tranny it is at is either right up against where the bell housing stops or in it. Im getting ready to pull the engine to see if I can figure out what it is but if anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate knowing where to start lookin or at least have a direction to go.

It sounds like something near the clutch/flexplate isn't aligned properly. I would at the very least, drop the cross member, oil pan, access plate/dust cover, and the starter to get a better look inside. Make sure all the bolts are seated right, and tightened securely.

Yeah, Im almost done pulling the motor again so hopefully itll be able to been seen easily, both of you thanks for the replies!

About the t/o bearing, would it remain a constant sound when the clutch is pressed or rpms change? I know the sound is not getting louder or changing with different rpms or the clutch pressed.

engines out, clutch is out, there were small pieces of stuff I think metal but wasnt metallic, and the throw out bearing just came out (nothing holding it, is there suppose to be a clamp oor something??) also the fork is able to be moved around very easily turning it up to down not toward drivers side to passenger side is it suppose to do that? Like I said before sorry Im acting like a newbie but Im not that familiar with trannys.

I wish I could be of more help, but I would either need to be there, or see some pretty good pictures to know what's wrong. Your descriptions just aren't cutting it for me... maybe the problem will be obvious to someone else, though.

You should also consider taking it to a shop to help diagnose the problem if you're not familiar with clutch systems.

I tried taking it to a shop but the damn car decided not to make the noise while it was there both times! I showed my dad the t/o bearing and he said it definetly is bad so hopefully thats all that is wrong with it now I just need to find a good quality clutch for a good price and hopefully itll be running. I would almost guarentee it's your throw out bearing. I'm telling ya!
