I noticed today that my GReddy type-s had 2 nipples on the back of it. The smaller one on the bottom has no hose connected to it. What hose is supposed to connect to that nipple? It appears to be venting correctly, but it has to be there for a reason.

It is used to place slight pressure on the bottom side of the diaphram. It is safe to be left alone. If you have a boost source before the BOV then you can hook the line into it.

The downside of using it is that too much presssure from the bottom will cause the valve to open prematurely.

I would leave it alone if it is working good now.

I resisted my urge to tell you to search....that nipple is the topic of much debate, and there are many very long posts about it. Basicaly it is to put pressure on the diaphram, more detail then that I do not feel like going into, here is a link....Clicky Me

Yo,
I have hooked up the bottom nipple before. I teed it into the regular BOV/Manifold line. It made the BOV react quicker, and made a quick release/flutter sound. If anything it quieted the BOV noise, the flutter sounds kinda tight, but I went back to normal BOV operation. I couldnt tell if it hurt or helped my performance at all either..............hope that helps..........

That "tight flutter" was compressor surge, the air trying to move your turbine in the opposite direction...which can produce a not so "tight" outcome.

yeah i thought that sounded like a bad idea.

that is how i hooked it up denji, just teed into the upper nipple vacuum line. According to the GREDDY website, the lower nipple is left alone and the BOV will operate like its supposed to......safely...............that should clarify everything......

The lower port is for differential pressure activation. Basically so both sides of the diaphram have pressure. I recommend hooking it up. :thumb:

But only to a constant boost source, aka before the throttle plate. It keeps equal amounts of pressure on both sides of the diaphragm when under boost and when you let off the pressure on the underside from the lower nipple actuates the bov quicker. I would think that it would only be really necessary when running alot of pressure and having the screw set tight caused it to not open under low boost situations.
