Small 16g compressor wheel question

Got a used 16g with shaft play for a few bucks. Everything looks good except the turbine shaft is snapped and the compressor wheel has notches in it. They look like they were machined not damage so I thought maybe they were for balancing the wheel. Any opinions? I know I'll need a turbine shaft and rebuild kit. Just wondered if I should replace the compressor wheel too.

Those are balance marks, though I'd be concerned at what appears to be signs of the wheel contacting the housing on the edges of the blades. How does the inside of the compressor housing look?

It looks a little dirty, but no scoring or scratches or metal dust anywhere that I can see.

Look at the pic attached. Take a closer look at the comp cover, too.

Can't figure out how to put up a pic on a reply, but there is an area around where the intake connects to the housing basically a ring where the metal looks clean while the rest of the inside of the housing is dirty. It doesn't look scored or scratched, but I guess if the housing material is harder than the wheel it may not have been damaged while the wheel was contacting it. Guess I'll be saving up for a comp wheel too. Thanks for the help. I didn't notice the flattening of the edges at first.

That wheel rubbed the cover big-time. I'd check the turbine for the sale wear- it's a possibility that the turbo's not worth rebuilding.

Yeah it looks the same. I already figured I'd have to get a new turbine wheel since the shaft snapped. After looking at prices for a new compressor wheel, shaft with turbine wheel, rebuild kit and heat shield I'm think I should just get a new chra. Would an evo3 chra fit the small 16g compressor housing or should I just get a small 16g chra?

You'd need a Small 16G CHRA- the Evo III compressor wheel is much larger.
