i've had my 2g gst for about two or three months now, can't drive it because it needs to pass emissions testing before i can plate it

My CEL is still coming on but i'm making progress.

I had four codes coming up originally but i took care of one by bypassing the rear O2 sensor

Now I still have three codes:

P1105- Fuel pressure solenoid malfunction, from what i've read this is soposed to be located on the drivers side firewall and can be unhooked as long as it stays plugged in and usually the vacume line get's T'ed into with the aftermarket boost controler. I located where the previous owner T'ed in to the vacume line coming from the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail, but from there the vacume line just runs to a nipple on the intake. I"m kinda lost on this one.

Second, is P0403- the EGR circuit. The previous owner has a block off plate installed, and there is nothing more than that. There is a plug that comes out of the wiring harness that is run across the top of the firewall that looks like it may have hooked to something in that area, but again I am kinda confused

and the last one, P1104- turbo waste gate solenoid malfunction. The owner before me installed a DNP manifold with external wastegate, so i'm thinking that since it dumps externally now and there is no solenoid (as far as I know) that is why i'm gettin the code.

I got ahold of the guy that i bought it from and he claims that everything was working properly, but I don't really believe him:nono:

any advise that can help me out with these three codes is greatly appreciated

Thanks!!!

Are the solenoids still there? If not that may be why you are getting the codes. They don’t have to be hooked up just plugged into the harness. Hopefully that will take care of those codes. As for the egr, you are probably going to have to take the block off plate off and install a egr valve(to pass the test anyway) If it was me I would leave it though The gains from removing it are minimal.. The other thing that will need to be fixed is the wastegate dumping externally. If they see that it will fail. Route it back into the DP and hopefully that will clear up everything.

Codes.

Codes are set when a signal sent from an input (sensor) is out of it's normal operating range. Your problems are electrical problems. Check to see if all of your connections are correct and working properly. You will have to refer to an electrical diagram (wiring schematic). The computer does not know if components actually work, but it can tell if the solenoid controlling that component works. It doesn't matter if the fuel pressure solenoid doesn't have a single vacuum line connected to it. If it is working electrically the computer thinks the solenoid is OK. Same for the EGR. The computer has no idea if the valve itself is even working. However, if the solenoid does not work the computer will throw a code. You should not have to reinstall an EGR valve as long as you have a working solenoid. Check the continuity of the solenoid coils. If you have a reading that is out or range (open circuit) you solenoid is bad. To sum it up just make sure all of your solenoids are good and plug them in electrically. If any of them are missing find new ones to replace them. You car will keep setting codes until it sees a working solenoid in each circuit. After you have made all repairs clear the codes whit a scanner. logger, or by unhooking the battery.

If your codes take a few hours to set you could try clearing the codes right before your car is tested for emissions. If your lucky the scanner won't pick up any hard or memory codes or set any new ones while being tested.

the problem is, I cant seem to find either of the solenoids for the fuel pressure or the EGR, (I can't find them and don't think they are there) I thought about getting both and just hooking them up in the harness for now to see if that cures a couple of the codes

I have access to a scanner and i read the codes, deleted them and almost immediatly after the vehicle was started they appeared again, simply because the solenoids aren't pressent

What would i do about the waste gate solenoid??? can someone find me a pic of what this looks like

Our emissions testing doesn't have a visual check, they just do the OBD-II

thanks everyone

If you pull the white coolant overflow bottle (by the passenger-side headlight in front of the intake pipe), the BCS (boost control solenoid) is a small cylinder a bit smaller than a "C" size Energizer™ battery that is bolted on the inside of the passenger-side frame rail. It has 2 nipples sticking out the side and a plug on the bottom. If you pull the overflow bottle (just pull straight up) you should see it.

that visual tour link in sweet! just what i needed, thanks!

well i found where the three solenoids are soposed to be located, and they arn't there, what a surprise

There are the plugs, with no solenoids plugged into them, hanging in the general area so it looks like I may be able to get the solenoids and plug them in. I think that will cure the CEL i'm getting

i'm going to call a dealer tomorow to get some prices, i've looked online for the solenoids but havn't had any luck so far, i'd like to go the cheapest route possible :)

I think i may have found the boost control soleniod, The previous owner removed the coolant bottle to run the short route tubing, so i didn't have to move that, i just see a plug hanging there with somethin plugged into it, looks to be like a solenoid. I'll have to check it to see if it's working or not

I would check a junkyard for the parts. Remember, you won't have to reroute any of the vacuum lines, just plug in the solenids so the computer deesn't see an open circuit. Clear the codes and you should be good to go.

Glad I could help. :)

The BCS is located on the passenger side frame rail, directly below where the coolant overflow bottle should be. It is held on with one bold, 10mm if I remember correctly (but I never do. :p ). Anyway, it should have a plug attached to the bottom and 2 vacuum lines. If you are running an MBC, you shouldn't see the vacuum lines.

Let me see if I can find a picture.

EDIT -> Ah, here you go.....

went to a junkyard today and got all three solenoids, i lucked out too. I drove about 40 min in hopes that they would have what i needed, because i called them and they had noooooooo idea what i was talking about. I got there and they only had two eclipses that i saw, had to dig through the snow to get to them, but i got them.

I'm going to install them this weekend and borrow the tester from a neighbor again, i think i'll be set

I found the plugs for the EGR and the FPS but can't find the boost control solenoid plug, I did zip tie a cluster of wires and plugs all togeather in that area when i just got the car, i'll have to jack it up so i can get to them, it's gotta be there somewher :)

thanks again!!!!!

I got four solenoids from the junkyard, only ended up using three, so if they take the other one back, i'll will have only spent around $75.

All the codes are gone now and i'm pumped!!!! The solenoids worked out great, I had a little trouble finding the plug for the wastegate solenoid but i was succesfull.

Now i just need to fix my tranny (reverse hops out) and i'll be in pretty good shape :)

I really appreciate the help
