Hey. For the past week Ive been having trouble with very slow spool. It started after going pretty hard down the free-way. I figured it was a boost leak becasue it was acting like on. Did a leat down test and found that my BOV leaked. Orderd a Tial and installed it today. Problem not fixxed. There are no boost leaks. I have a BR580 60 trim and usually had 24lbs at 4400. Now i get 20lbs by 7500. WB o2 says everythings is fine and i have no knock. IT will spool fine up to 8-9psi then it struggles the rest of they way. Also the exhaust sounds very weird, like it is running lean. Any input would be very helpful. Thanks alot.

I imagine you probably have an external gate on that thing, Id check for some sort of issue with that, since youre exhaust sounds different and you cant build full boost by redline, youre gate is probably dumping air through the exhaust rather than using it to spool. This is only my assumption though, I'm not to knowledgeable on the workings of an external, if this was internally gated, Id bet money it was a stuck slightly open flapper though.

I do have dsmlink and i have no knock. My a/f ratio is a tad rich. It is an internaly gated turbo and i did check the wastegate and it is not stuck. Im thinking about taking off the o2 housing to see if there may be a hole in it or something like that.

I have the same problems as you. I just now replaced my actuator and installed wideband. Im just a little rich under boost but a little too lean right before boost hits hard (ex. 5-7lbs). Im running out of ideas too. I did notice however that my vac sits at 16 at idle. a little too low i think.

full boost for me comes at 5200-5500 rpm (20psi). Im starting top lose it. seriously

i think if you gettting low vacume and strange noises.. maybe your timing belt jumped a few teeth? Check your compression and see if its up to par. best of luck

I finally found the problem. When i was doing a boost leak test there were no leaks, it would hold boost fine, until I opened the throttle plate then it was a huge leak. I took apart the throttle body and replaced the shaft seals and now there is no problem anymore. That is the strangest thing i have ever seen. But thanks for all the help.
