I wired up some mishimoto slim fans (brand new) and they dont seem to be working. First i made sure the fans worked by hooking them up to a 14v drill battery. I wired em like it said here and they are not working. I tried turning on the A/C to see if that fan works and it doesnt either. I checked the fuses, they are good. I pulled the relays hi and lo and they click and seem to be working when i put em back in. Im gonna check for present power to the fans tommorow with a test light but i wanted some input. I double checked the way the A/C side is hooked up and I have it hooked up as followed:

Blue/White and Blue = hooked up to my fans blue wire
Blue/Black and Black = hooked up to my fans black wire

I need to get this resolved. I bet its something simple. Help me out if you can. Thanks for looking. =)

the danger with toggle is that u can forget, which can cause serious damage... but hooked up to ACC will power on with and stay on as long is key is on ACC.

You checked the fuses and everything? ## best bet.. strip the wires.. use no harness plugs.. find the voltage and ground with a volt meter and good luck..

plug up the old fans and see what happens if so jus cut the plugs and replace them..

again good luck bro

I had a similar problem, I just wired mine to the relay, I pulled the relay, found the prong that had switch power and ran the ground to a bolt on the body of the engine bay and that was it, I hope this helps man. Good luck.

The fuses are good. The relays hi and lo click on when supposed to. I thought maybe there was a bad ground so i tried sending ground strait from the battery to the fans and still nothing. Im gonna use my test light to see if power is present. I really dont want to resort to wiring on relays to the ignition.

yea you're right that's y i'm just always aware when i turn it on not to forget. Eventually i'll hook it up to like my a/c or lights

Well if you've got power at the relays but not at the fan, then the wire is broken/shorted between them or relay isn't working.
Both AC relays blue-white on pin 5 (top pin) should have +12v always (check 20A fuse if not). If you remove relay and short pin 5 to pin 4 (one just below it) fan should come on (this is what relay does).

How the heck can you forget? It' snot like the fans are freaking silent.

Had the same problem in my 420a... The temperature sensor underneath the thermostat was out.. I didnt feel like replacing that so I ran a toggle switch except that is a pain too because I went through like 5 toggle switches.. and I forgot to turn them off multiple times.. so I just ran it to the Power on cable for the stereo and ran a bigger fuse.. works perfectly.. everytime I turn the car on.. the fans are on.:thumb:

Oh and another thing to make sure they work.. just wire them directly to the battery.. if they dont spin you have a problem.. but more then likely it was just a minor issue.

What size fuse did you use? Cause that sounds like a good idea

Well my stereo I think used 5 amp stock? not sure.. they are like 80 watt fans between the both of them so I just switched it out with a 20 amp one.

I just tried fuses of a bigger size until they stopped blowing LOL.. I had tons extra.

I did this. Looks completely stock (no fugly toggle switches everywhere) and will only come on when the car is on and the switch is enabled. It really helps that there is that little green light to show when its on too :thumb:

I like my car to look as factory looking as possible when it comes down to wires. I hate when there are ALOT of wires running through the engine bay that are not supposed to be there.

Turned out being that the fusible link was blown. I fixed my problem but my car is still over heating....wonderful.......

Does it over heat at idle.. or going 70?.. if your car cools down when you start going fast it limits the problem to a few things..

Also make sure its completely full of fluids.. dont know if you tried this or not but while the car is started wait for it to overheat and let the thermostat open up and fill it up with coolant.. either water or antifreeze. Be careful though maybe some safety glasses..

also.. another question? Do you have a/c?

i got the a/c and it overheats when im driving higher speeds. I pulled the plugs cause it doesnt overheat when im at idle, just when theres a load (boosting). Here are the plugs:

Im not sure if its fuel or oil. But there is oil on the O ring on the plug. Im hoping its just blowby from a bad pcv valve or something cause i dont want to have to replace rings or a headgasket at this moment. Also i have been fighting bad oil pressure. Im trying to figure out why. Keep in mind, these are brand new plugs (5 miles put on them so far?).

Well.. That sucks.. Bad Head Gasket I hear does all kinds of things.. once u start talking about internals theres not an extreme amount I can help with..

if it's fuel you WILL smell it, if it's burning oil you'll see a bluish smoke at start up, idle. it does not overheat at idle but only overheats while boosting/under load? what happens if your not boosting? does it overheat all the time except when your at idle? if your headgasket (orcylinder head is warped) is blown it will overheat within minutes of start up and you'll see bubbles coming out of the reservoir, you can also check your dipstick and check for any signs of coolant in there.

are you fighting high or low oil pressure?

No coolant in oil and it only overheated under boost. It seems to idle fine without overheating. I'm fighting low oil pressure.
