Sleepy Eyes [Merged 9-7] snake snakeyes half chicklet mod

i'm also having trouble finding the "chiclet". Could someone please post a more detailed picture or a video? All I find is a bunch of wires, but not the diode.

i have it so that when i turn my headlights on my lights stay down but the lights come on and then i turn the high beams on so its still shine bright. theres a way of stopping the the headlights half way but the lights are on tho. thats the only way i know of doing it with out getting crazy. over right by the passengers feet theres a panel by the door almost under the dash. take the panel off and there should be a thing of wires. there is one wire that has a white cap on the end of it. in that cap theres a fuse. when you take that fuse out it stops the headlights from popping up when turn the lights on. at this point you control your headlights popping up with the button thats on your dash. theres a small trick when trying to get your headlights to stop half way. i think what you do is... pop up your lights with the button, then turn your lights on with the normal switch. then after that push the button again. nothing should happen. but real fast turn your lights off with the normal switch and then turn them back on. what this does is when you turn off your lights they want to close but when you turn them back on it stops them half way. play around with them. you will figure it out.

It would be cool to find out a way to make the system power half of what it really does... Like the motors move until the headlights are all the way up... it would be cool to make the motors move only half of what they do.

The "chicklet" mod above is pretty easy to control. Once you have the lights on, press the button on the dash and quickly flip the lights off, then back on. Time and effort wise, especially for something pretty trivial, it is a great solution.

If I had a 1ga, I'd figure it out. I always wanted to do this to my old 1ga's. But never got around to it. I'm picking up a 90 pretty soon, I'll find out how to make the headlights only go up half way when you turn on the lights or press the headlight lift button.

Good point. I'm so used to not having fogs on cars that it didn't occur to me.

When you have a 1g though, you need all the lighting you can get. Hell, the foglights light the road better than the sealed junk.
That's why headlights like these work better Bosch E-Code Headlights (LS1 T/A Guys, you want this!) - LS1TECH

I've got the autopal's though. They're hella/cibie/bosh knockoffs and light up just as well as they do.
I don't know what he's saying, but maybe steve can see how he's wiring it up easily?

It looks like he's basically using toggle switches to engage/disengage the motors?

yea looks like he used one toggle switch per side to adjust the height. not bad for a homemade kit. basicly just added a 3rd party switch to power the headlight motors. only thing that sucks is it keeps the lights where ever you have them set at rather than allowing them to go all the way down when you turn them off and pop up half way when they come back on.

Guys if You don't want to loose the foglights there's a way to do the trick.

Instead of just unplugging the diode You have to pull off one of the three wires on the diode connector.
Is one of the outside ones, but not remember wich one it was exactly.

Can you peek under the dash? This would benefit those that still have fogs.

Don't understand what You mean, english is not my first language. What's peek?:coy:
The trick is easy, instead of just unplugging the diode, You have to pull off one of the three wires from the back of teh connector. They can be pulled off using a very small flat screwdriver or a steel wire if I remember correctly.
Then wrap the pulled wire with electric tape and that's it.

I'm sorry for the confusion.

Can you look under the dash at the connector and get the wire color or take a picture?

This would be very helpful.

That is great!

How do you control the rise of the headlights with this done? Do you set them by hand?

Nope, just using the pop up switch on the dashpanel.
It no longer pops up when just flipping the light switch.

I'm sorry I think i didn't understand You correctly.
You meant how do I set the sleepy eyes right?

Then there's a problem. It only works turning the lights on. You can't set the sleepy eyes with the lights off because as soon as You turn the light switch off the headlights either pop fully out or hide completelly.

It must be something as easy as putting a switch on one of the wires coming out of the light switch.
Taking a look at the electrical schematics would make it pretty fast to figure it out.

But I doubt I'll try to do it any time soon, there's more important stuff to be done to my car rather than that right now.
