size of manifold bolts

Hey guys I tried to search this but only found 1g mani bolts and a bunch of threads asking about the bolts to the block.

I'm wondering what size the 4 bolts from the exhaust manifold to the turbo is SUPPOSED to be.

The ones mine had were 17mm - didn't seem right to me.
I had a MAJOR issue getting them off however PB Blaster got them off for me.

Just incase anyone doesn't know exactly what I mean, it's these. Its a ported 2g mani btw.

1G and 2G are the same.

M10 x 1.25 with a UHL of 80mm.

The socket size that you would use to remove them will vary depending on which brand/make bolt it is.

I just went out and realized... 3 of the 4 bolts snapped in the turbo flange.

I don't even know what to do now

Fun, isn't it? It's a common problem. I'm sure there are several threads floating around here about that issue.

As long as there is a small amount of the stud protruding from the surface of the flange, it shouldn't be too bad to get it out.

I TIG weld the largest possible cap screw onto the broken stud. Then, heat the area with a torch. Then, take some bees wax and work it around the broken stud. With an allen wrench on the screw, try to work it left to right, repeatedly. It will help the bees wax work it's way in there and the bolt will eventually free up and thread out.

This process has served me well in the past. The one time that it didn't work, we had to drill the broken stud out. We ended up re-drilling and re-tapping the holes to a larger diameter and a coarse thread, and never had issues again.

It is a major pain sometimes. I had to take mine to a machine shop to get the bolts drilled out that snapped. Just use OEM bolts and a great amount of High Temp Anti-Seize. I even had an ARP bolt break on me.

Problem is I don't have a welder or a torch or anything.

one of the bolts there's nothing sticking up out of the flange. The rear right bolt is still inside the manifold a bit, holding the flange/manifold together.

I don't have money to take it to a machine shop, ugh

If you or a buddy doesn't have the tools to get it out, then a machine shop is your best option. Time to save those pennies.

Its normal for exhaust bolts to break, I break so many myself, until I went with stainless arp exhaust bolts/double oem lock washers on each bolt, just bring your housing to any machine shop they'll take those stripped bolts out for like $20

Damn soo many probems and I haven't even been driving it hard. Only had it a month.

Of course when I bought it I had a job to pay for this stuff.
Dammit.

Make sure you dont get the cheap ARP's. I did and many others have done the same....THEY BREAK SO EASILY! And usually they break flush with the exhaust housing so they have to be drilled out. FUN right.
