does anyone have pictures of the crank side of the engine. i want to see how the belts are positioned and the water pump pulleys, etc. I can't figure out how my belts go on. Now someone tells me the water pump has 2 pulleys?

its a 6bolt motor going in a 2g eclipse

it does have 2 pulleys. (inner and outer) 1 belt goes around p/s pump - water pump.
another goes around crankpulley-water pump - alt

if im thinkin wrong somone correct me.

i searched the gallery over 70 pages, looking inside different members for photos. Nothing.

I searched on google, nothing...

I figured i'd just post here.

crank - a/c
p/s - water pump
crank - water pump - alt

damn guy told me it was 2 belts but none of them fit, now I see why... ugh!
 
There's a few reasons why there are no pictures of all the belts attached...

When swapping engines in these cars, most people un-bolt the AC compressor and the PS pump instead of draining fluids or CFC's. So the belts aren't ever on the engine sitting on an engine stand because those accessories are still on the chassis.

The other reason is that there's not much room to fit a camera in the car once it's installed. You'll have to rely on a drawing.

For what it's worth, here's a pic from my web page with the engine on the stand, but with the AC and PS pump removed. I built my original 123k mile 7-bolt. Sorry man, not a 6. The belts are routed around tensioners where installed, and in the right places if you can imagine those other accessories in place. I hope this helps...

thanks for the picture.. i totaly forgot about the a/c belt tensioner.. i guess i have to install that too.. sheesh.

i'm keeping my power steering and a/c. its a small gain for a big loss.. it gets hot sometimes.

Nah, AC belt's on there. It's the one closest to the timing cover on the crank pulley. The one above the alternator is the P/S.

Are you asking me or him? I kept my AC. My car still has everything it came with OEM (and everything still works exept the power door locks :mad: ).
 
so the alternator bracket is attached to the water pump.. my bolt isn't long enough then.. hmm

also, i think i'm missing the a/c tensioner pulley.. crap
