Im actually looking for the complete timing belt kit looks likt the tensioner is missing can someone send me a link as to were to go for the gates complete racing kit? also does anyone know the front diver crankshaft seal part number?

Im running all gates components, and have been for a few thousand miles.
OEM parts are nice, but you're paying more for the same parts IMO.
Theres nothing wrong with gates parts.

So, you warn to avoid a gates belt, then recommend one?

Hmm, since you said something, I went back and cross referenced part numbers, and it seems legit. The page struck me as shady, and they looked like non OEM pulleys at first glance. My apologies :thumb:

But I'd much rather buy from a vender who still supports our cheap-ass community :)

JNZ is usually the cheapest for just about everything OEM, go ahead compare prices. Stick with OEM tensioner and pullies and you might want to replace the waterpump while there. You can go Gates on the WP and belt.

Make sure you know 100% up, down, sideways and inside out to properly time and tension the belt upon assembly.

I use the Gates TCK167 on my 1ga Laser. I have nothing bad to say about it at all. The pulleys that came off the car and the ones that came in the gates kit were of very similiar quality. There's no reason not to buy a full gates kit with the pulleys and the belt.
I used an OEM tensioner from mitsubishiparts.net. They run VERY good deals on their tensioners sometimes. I was able to get the OEM piece for about 89 bucks on sale, or about $120.00 less than our local stealership wanted!

This is also my opinion so take it as you will but, I would never in a million years pay for an OEM Aisin water pump. I actually wouldn't even pay the money for a Gates water pump either. I got the 'Airtex' brand pump from rockauto. I think it was like 17 bucks, and it does exactly what it's supposed to.

I would suggest getting your timing component kit from rockauto. Some of the links in this thread have prices that are absolutely obscene.

Realize I'm talking about general consensus here before defending some other brand. Don't lead the OP astray with the oh-so-common and utterly useless comments "..yeah my timing set is doing just fine, screw paying real money". Against what comparison exactly? The belt is still there and pullies aren't screaming at you? See what I mean?

FYI $2 difference between Gates/Airtex. Wow. I could find that walking around the house.

I have ran a gates timing belt and water pump on 3 different cars and had zero issues. Gates IS a reputable brand or our vendors wouldn't carry them. You can get it from RockAuto or JNZ for a good price. Both are vendors on the site....

wondering if I should go with the gates black belt or the gates racing belt? I'm going to be running about 280-300 h.p, evey kit I've looked at for the racing belt is $200+ w/out the tensioner im just trying to get everything I need to replace now, without spending a fortune I still got to get a fmic, gauges, wideband, cams, and a exhaust system

The blue belts are made out of kevlar and are stronger but should still be replaced at the same service intervals as the oem belt. If you purchase the blue belt it is basically just for the "bling factor". I must say mine does look pretty nice under my clear cam gear cover though!
