Should I delete any of my resonators? I don't like the sound of my exhaust.

I have a Meganracing catback and meganracing headers and I was wondering if I should delete one or both of the resonators. I just hate how it sounds when i rev it and it's de-reving it makes this gross noise. I don't know how to explain it. I just want my exhaust to sound good maybe a little more raspy but not to the point where it's ricey. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

I was running ebay headers, test pipe and cat back, deleted both resonators. sounds really raspy between 3-5000 rpms but it does get louder and deeper... are you running a test pipe?

Yes I have a test pipe so I'm basically running the same thing you are. I am looking into getting both resonators deleted does it sound good? Like not ricey? I don't mind if it's raspy. Do you have video of test pipe with both resonators delted?and also how much louder does it get when you take out both of the resonators? How will it sound with both resonators removed if I'm runnig a cat? Thanks.

Resonators are there to make an exhaust sound better...
They make them sound less raspy and more of a grumble.

Maybe your car just has a terrible tune..?

Running the cat on the N/T it tends to sound better. How long are the resonators, and what muffler do you have. I heard a 420a with a magnaflow muffler and it sounded nice.

and I want it to sound a little more raspy

If that's what you're going for, then remove one of the resonators first. If the sound still isn't to your liking, remove the other. Resonators do suppress that "raspy" sound. They also impede exhaust gas flow, so while the reason you're removing them isn't necessarily performance related, you may gain an ever so slight increase in horsepower.

the reason I removed mine is because I wanted more power for my built motor. it does sound good to me, but I had to put a cat on mine because I just moved to FU*KING california (sorry) LOL. so now I'm running straight through with a cat. I cant get a video sorry.

thanks velocita. I just put my cat back in today. Which resonator do you reccomend deleting first the long one right after the cat or the smaller one after that?

Also diamondrev, how dies your car sound with both resonators deleted and the cat in? Thanks.

I think if your gonna delete one, you might as well delete both. save the extra trip to the muffler shop. I think I will be able to get a video up before this weekend... sounds deep and raspy.

how loud was it after you deleted both and still had a cat in compared to when you had both on with a cat. Likes will both the resonators deleted with a cat in be as loud as both the resonators still in with no cat? The reason I am asking is because I think I'm getting it done tomorrw.

the resonators are there to control the sound and tone the exhaust makes, if I were you I would just go through with it. having a straight through exhaust sounds and feels great. Now I have a semi-clogged used cat on and I can feel the power loss. Just go for it :thumb:

But don't let a cop see under your car in california;)

I have my stock cats but removed the resonaters and have an ebay muffler. Without the silencer its LOUDDDDD. Sooo nice though, I can try for a video tomorrow. Its not raspy or ricey at all. I used to have no muffler or resonaters but that was too much, beyond loud, and sounded like shit IMO.
