Should I buy these gauges for future benefits?

Ok, again I need some feedbacks. I want to buy some gauges, but I am also keeping in mind for "short term" future benefits as well. In the near future I am going to buy DSMlink as a upgraded mod, but I currently need some gauges that I can use with ECM, I was thinking of AEM wideband UEGO and Electronic boost gauge, which can be hooked up to dataloggers. My budget is kept under $900 for all 3 item (wideband, boost, and ECM). If you have other better suggestions, I'm open to it. I want the best possible products for the bucks, so quality counts. Car is stock btw.

While I won't endorse these particular gauges, because I think they're ugly, I will say you're on the right track with a boost and wideband gauge before you start messing with anything else. My particulary favorite gauges are made by VEI Systems (the dual gauges, so I can get 4 gauges in 2 pods), but whatever you go with, good on you.

I have a AEM UEGO it works well. They're compatible with AEM engine management if you ever go there.

If you can afford, get an EGT (pyrometer) as well... is a good compliment to the wideband. The wideband does correlate to exhaust temp according to the stoichiometry of the combustion, but there's no replacement for knowing how hot the exhaust gasses actually are.

EGT can still be used in tuning. However, trends are moving away from egt based tuning towards more accurate wideband tuning.

However, I would steer clear of an AEM WBO2 unless you need that specific one for some reason (running AEM EMS in the future?) I say that because your EGR may actually be useful to you in AK.

If your planning on running DSMlink you options for logging on a 1g ecu are limited.

Shows that logging is limited with the 1g ecu. AEM WB02 is not compatible with the egr anyways. You basically stuck with using to simulate the front o2 sensor unless you have switched over to speed density.

You are definitely on the right track. Link, boost gauge, and wideband are great first mods. AEM is a trusted brand as well. I run glowshift and they are terrible. I raged on my glowshift gauge pod and trashed it, run lotek now.The tinted gauges are hard to read in the day time too.

Ah didnt notice 1g, you could run Jackal for free and go speed density.

Those are both two great things to get. I have an AEM wideband and I love it.

I don't really like the idea from ordering from EBAY, as many of their items are knockoffs and bad communication, I'm glad I have a good idea of my upgraded path. So I guess I stay away from AEM WB with LINK, since it's not compatiable.

But I will do more reading about Jackal, and Speed Density, and I'll look into VEI system too, I'm not too fond of huge gauges and multiple gauges. I prefer DSMlink since they have alot of help on it compare to AEM EMS. I want something user friendly since I'm new to all this "tuning and monitoring" thing.

But im still OPEN to peoples ideas with what they are running and what works best for them. Thanks everybody!!

Unless it was used the only thing $140.00 is getting you is the older version UEGO, a.k.a. inaccurate. Yes even on eBay. Use a trusted vendor.

Wow, a guy new to the site that's buying gauges and Link before anything else, and doesn't want parts off ebay. This is a refreshing change from what I'm used to seeing. Anyway, I prefer the Innovate LC-1 wideband although many people use the AEM with no complaints.

I would say to stray away from the electronic boost gauge as you should be able to get a manual boost gauge and MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor for cheaper. You could pick up an Autometer gauge and a GM MAP sensor for under $100 easily. This would have you half way to a speed density setup as well if you wanted to go that route. You'd just need an IAT sensor, which can be purchased for about $30.

Or just buy the whole SD package for $100.

And I'd vote for an Innovate LC-1 wideband (again, can be had from eBay for fairly cheap) over the AEM. I've heard of too many users having logging issues with the AEM unit.

I would recommend the lc-1 as well. As for the boost gauge the aem is good. Plus it's reads up to 50 which is nice since you never know what you will be running in the future.

Can someone please tell me why you are telling the kid to get the LC1, the only benefit of it is the logging software and he is getting Link anyway.

Get the Glowshift kit, save yourself some money. Now someone is going to say something stupid about the quality of the gauge, and then I am just going to point out how stupid they are.

Save us all the trouble the Glowshift kit uses an LSU 4.9 sensor and the exact same digital gauge that is in the DB kit from Innovate.

Simple the lc-1 already has support for use through link. As for cheaper i see the db gauge for 161 through ebay. Innovate LC1 LC-1 Wideband + DB Gauge Kit O2 RED 3796 - eBay (item 300515150563 end time Feb-13-11 07:24:16 PST)

Now have you personally used the glowshift gauge through link?

Does it come with DB gauge? The LC-1 is just a wideband controller, that can be wired into the stock ECU.

^There are a variety of packages, with anything from the controller/sensor to either the DB or XD-16 gauge.

My brother ordered an LC-1 from an eBay vendor and it's exactly as you would get from a Supporting Vendor. There have been a lot of people to order widebands from eBay that are on this site. Just make sure to pick one oft the "top-rated sellers" to buy from.

^ I think you misunderstood me. I was asking 1cleanreddsm if the one on eBay he was looking at came with a DB gauge.
