ok heres the deal.....i picked up a 1990 Laser RS non turbo for 300 bucks cuz the timing belt broke.....of course bent vavles.
this leads to 2 questions

1. its been sitting a while with the head off so the block & piston heads have a bit of rust on them. also the engine has about 128K miles on it.......am i in need of a rebuild kit??

2. the top of piston #2 has a small knick in it..it doesnt leak fluid ive tested it...would it be ok to use or would the knick cause trouble? and is there any way to fix that?:laser:

No you won't need a rebuild kit unless you want to do a "freshen up" on the block. The rust on the block can be taken off using a fine scotch brite pad or rotory cleaning discs on a drill. THen spray the block with wd-40 to prevent rusting until you put the head back on. The nick I wouldn't wory about unless it is very significant.
