While driving (usually while accelerating) my 98 GST will make these short quick jerks. Nothing that moves your body but noticable and definately not ok. I could barely accelerate at all. Then, later on in the trip, everything seemed to be ok. If I was having some kind of mechanical failure, I would think it would be more consistent. Does this sound like misfiring?

Sounds like a misfire to me. I would check your plugs and wires over very carefully. If you want a quick trick. Run the car at night and spray a mist of water on the wires. They will light up with sparks if they are the problem.

Changed plugs, they definately needed it but it didn't fix the problem. Now I am trying to put in a new fuel filter but the fuel lines will not come off of the old one. We have been trying forever to get it off but can't. Any tips?

NGK BPR7ES, the old plugs indicated they needed to be colder and its pretty modded up. Gapped at .28 I dont know what wires, some generic stuff I guess, whatever the previous owner put on there
