got a 91 laser rs turbo auto. I cant comment on the condition of the tranny as of right now because the car does not run at the moment. when it did run, it ran so rough that I couldn't tell you how the tranny shifted. however, the one thing I CAN say, is the shifter has wiggle to it. it moves quite a bit from left to right. it goes into gears fine and stays in those gears, but its very loose from side to side.

whats up with that? did something come loose, is this a common prob for auto's? I find it to be very annoying...

The center console is really easy to take apart on a 1g, just remove the part surrounding the shifter assembly and see if everything is tight.. the front piece of the center console comes out with 3 screws, 2 in front and one under the ashtray

I took the center console out and looked around. I grabbed a hold of the sifter and moved it around and found where the problem was. the problem is a non existant plastic bushing that use to exist. the only way for me to eliminate the wiggle is to get a new shifter assembly as I can't repair it. its not gonna cause any damage, its just annoying as all hell. thanx for the help...
