What exactly does the weight of a shifter knob have to due with the actual performance? I am on a B&M style shifter. And I was thinking about machining my own knob. I was thinking I would go with the heaviest aluminum I could get to make the shifting better. And possibly a spherical shape. Not sure. Here is what I have right now for a knob.

The top two knobs in this pic are the ones I have been using.

I don't mind these knobs but have never weighed them. Any ideas on what I could make for the best shifting experience? I want something uniform in shape and easy to grab, and heavy.

A lighter knob gives you a better feel of ripping through gears compared to a heavy piece.

Yeah, they have that at the hardware store next to de-moisturized water.

The knob you already have is heavier than aluminum. A heavy one will just snub feedback from the shifters. The overall effect will be like Faster Wax.
